Food is tasty. overpriced by about 40%. ordered two Caesar salads and they basically split one piece of chicken into both salads. 2 salads, 1 chicken sandwich and 1 kids meal was $71

Very disappointed in latest visit to MJ's Spotswood. Sat down around 6pm in what I consider a fairly slow night. Only 2 servers covering all the tables. Appetizers and salads didn't get to table till almost 7pm. Quality of food was well below what I expect when spending $130 before tip. Even being unsatisfied with the evening I still counted out $165 to leave a $25 tip. After my wife counted out $165 she handed it to me and I confirmed $165. After my wife handed the server the $165 to say I was blindsided would be an understatement when the server returned to our table as we were getting up to leave and placed money and recept back on table telling us we only handed her $120. My wife was completely embarrassed and I calmed her and we got up and exited. I've been eating at other mjs since they opened the middletown location many years ago. We will still patronize middletown and matawan but I'll never return to Spotswood. I believe the server honestly dropped or lost the missing $45 due to obvious short staffing. To mjs management please get a handle on your staffing issues. Also please instruct your servers to confirm how much cash is handed to them while in site of the customer.

Sent back my meal. Pulled Pork sandwich. Honestly, this should be easy right? They took it off the bill without argument. Even THE PICKLE on the plate was garbage. THE PICKLE! Absolute Zero Quality Control. Simply gross school cafeteria level slop.

The last time I sent back a meal was years ago and it just so happens to have been at the other MJs in Matawan. There I ordered medium rare steak and they delivered dried shoe leather. Same issue ... no QC ... none.

MJs for me (and I suspect management) is strictly a large bar. There are far better choices locally to go out to for a quick bite and drink.

Hint MJs: try to follow the lead of T_ _ _y's Tavern, The B_ _ss Rail or the like where they respect thier customers idea of value.

So, I’ve been coming here for quite some time I came in today for lunch with my kids had four meals. The meals were great. Everything was fine. My daughter ordered as side of ranch dressing. I was charged $1.50 for a side of ranch dressing. It’s not $1.50 that’s a problem, my meal was $91 and some change you mean to tell me they can throw in a little side of ranch dressing for my daughter I think that’s a little over excessive I was a little concerned Why all of a sudden are they charging for a condiment? That’s like saying you’re going to charge me for ketchup or mustard when I mentioned it to Server her response was they made me charge you needless to say I was very disappointed because this is a local establishment that I like to frequent but because of this, I will not be going there again there’s a saying don’t be Pennywise dollar foolish

MJs has several locations and Spotswood is the closest to us. Bartenders are fast and friendly. The wings and the pizza are banging. The best Garlic Parm wings I've had. Always big wings cooked perfect and the right amount of flavor. Pizza is a great bar pie. The burgers are big and juicy. Plenty of TVs $3 Miller Lite drafts. Perfect for a have or a night out with friends.
I wish they would open a spot in Piscataway. I know a perfect location on South Washington avenue.

Awful take out experience reminded me why we haven't been here in years. Thought a bar meal for football Sunday would be fun. Ordered 2 of the same sandwich no onions on either to make it easy. Received 2 different sandwiches and loads of onions. Requested a refund, they offer to remake them but who want to drive back there? The manager or whoever took over the call was so unprofessional and weird about it. My order was wrong, refund me without burdening me further please.

They had 1 bartender there, for a crowd of 150. No manager to help him. Waited 45 minutes for the check. Drawing beer from taps through the bar to save walking time, and beer going down the drain 1/2 the time. What a complete and utter disaster. Poor people on my side of the bar had no service for more than 45 min, since he tended to my check first. Someone needs to be fired for this. I write reviews for hundred of establishments. This was the worst review I ever wrote.
