Fantastic food and staff! Have ordered many sandwich platters and they are always delicious and look great! Highly recommend Tom Baileys Market.

I’m an infrequent poster preferring to walk with my feet if less than happy. My experience with Tom Bailey’s has become unacceptable so I have to post a review. We’ve been patronizing this market since Nick and Nancy opened it. The people who own it now have no sense of courtesy or how to run a successful business.
They pass along the merchant fee when you pay with a credit card which I’ve become accustomed to, however, they fail to follow the NJ consumer law and also charge a fee when using a debit card. I had ordered an expensive roast and didn’t have enough cash (233.00) so I had to return with my check book. I politely suggested that they look into this with their card processor for future purchases.
I gave them the benefit of doubt about not knowing the law and said that I am sure I am not the only customer who has voiced this.
The response from the two women at the counter was terse and slightly hostile.
Additionally, I asked for a foil pan and was charged 2.00. ( They sell for .50 a piece at Shop Rite.) I paid the 2.00 since I was already at the super market and had a toddler in tow.
My sister bought the same cut of prime meat at Taste of Italy in Tinton Falls and they not only provided a foil pan but they carried it to her car. That’s service.
Palmers Quality Meats in Neptune has prime and grass-fed meats and they are exceptionally customer oriented.
They both properly handle debit card purchases and advised that they are not permitted to charge fees.
Added bonus-very easy to find parking at Palmers and Taste of an Italy.

Owning a deli like Tom Bailey’s, nestled as a centerpiece in the picturesque town of Spring Lake, must be an absolute dream come true. It presents the opportunity to shine and become the most renowned sandwich maker in the area. In essence, “You have one job to do.”

So how come there are this many bad reviews from people who have had less than positive experiences when visiting this deli?

It seems like the people who work inside have forgotten the most important aspect of running a business: prioritize customer satisfaction. When you treat customers like garbage when they have a legitimate complaint or don't properly handle the flow of waiting payers at the cashier, don't expect people to return.

I have been in this establishment several times. Their food is grossly overpriced. Grabbing an egg sandwich and coffee in the morning is a significant expense. Their deli sandwiches are nothing special, but the place is conveniently located so I continue to give them my business.

Reading the Google reviews of this establishment, I’ve noticed complaints that resonate with me. The women working here, especially the one at the register, are not very pleasant. I’ve witnessed their snootiness, nastiness, and snide remarks directed at customers who have legitimate complaints. Such behavior is unacceptable in a business that aims for continued success.

If the owners are reading these reviews, I hope they recognize the issue and take steps to improve. There are other delis in the area that offer better sandwiches without the accompanying attitude.

Today, I went in to Baliey’s to get a sandwich, I ordered the Everready with chick and Mozzarella. I recognized it was on a wrap so asked if I can get it on a roll. The two women behind the counter said yes. It was not crowded and I walked around and added to my order a yogurt & cookies. The sandwich comes, paid and left. Get home, unwrap the sandwich and it was not the right order so wrapped it up drove back to the deli. When I got there I tell the woman who works the cashier that I got the wrong order. Instead of saying sorry, I got the vibe I am being annoying because they were closing up. The woman who made the sandwich tells me I ordered a totally different item. But I know I did not order this sandwich with bacon on it. Now the two women who were taking my order are telling me I did. I try to tell them I would not order this. They cont to tell me I did. I was not getting anywhere and it was very frustrating. I did not hear anyone say Sorry we’ll make you a new sandwich. The lights in the store were being turned off yet there was one other customer in there with me. So, I said just give me my money back. I was not being heard. They were very snooty, rude and could care less about taking care of the customer. It was more important to them to prove that I was wrong. And I was annoyed that I caught up in this. I will never go back to this place again. Its over priced, overrated, and customer service is horrible.

This is hands down the best sandwich shop in NJ. I personally love the Poppy sandwich and go here every time I'm nearby. Would come again.

I placed a catering order over the phone that totaled over $340. When I went to pick up the order, I arrived 3 minutes after the time it was supposed to be ready. The cashier was on the phone when I arrived, and there was no one else ahead of me in line. The cashier then helped several others who got in line after me. By the time I was able to pay for the order, it was 15 minutes past the scheduled pick up time. I had to wait longer for the food to be ready. Finally got all the food about 20 minutes after scheduled pick up time. Disappointed they didn't communicate better about the food being late, and that they made no effort to help customers in the order we arrived. I will not go back

Do not get the take out sandwiches , not sure what happened when they moved the preparations behind closed doors … but i paid for a roast beef sandwich … the roast beef was all from the “stump” of the roast beef, actually threw it out, same for the turkey. we love tom bailey’s burgers , dogs and butcher but sandwiches are awful

I've been coming here for over 20 years. Probably the only market type place in Spring Lake. Fresh prepared food options are all delicious and made in house. The deli sandwiches are excellent, breakfast options are good. The ordering system at the deli counter is a little bit chaotic with the size of the building, but it works for the most part.

Attempted to call ahead and was told they don’t take phone orders even though their website says to call ahead. Arrived on site and ordered 9 sandwiches. Watched 30 people come in after me and leave with their freshly made sandwiches. After 30 minutes inquired about my order and was told by an annoyed staff that I dared to even ask about my order that i ordered a lot of sandwiches and the 30 people that came and went after me only ordered one. After waiting 15 more minutes someone from the back came out and told me they ran out of bread and chicken and had to make more. I thanked them for the helpful update and asked how much longer it would be. They didn’t have an answer. My sandwiches arrived and one was missing. The woman behind the register was annoyed when I told her after an hour I am still Missing a sandwich. She did not help me find which was missing and acted like she was doing me a favor by making the sandwich that was already paid for. I tried something new and regret it. I will not be returning and do not recommend this deli. Will continue to give my business to the cafe next door that has a lovely team and delivers excellent food and service.

“GRILL” closes at 2 but shop closes at 3!
I am so sad to say that I had an extremely poor experience at Tom Baileys. I have gone here since I was a child with my family and the food is amazing. The last time I visited I noticed the cashier at the deli was not the friendliest …didn’t look up to say hello, didn’t smile, and looked annoyed when I wanted to substitute a cheese. I had the same cashier today and it was the same energy. I said hello twice because I thought she didn’t hear me. I asked for one of the hot sandwiches and the woman behind the cashier screamed NO at me. I was taken aback and said excuse me and it was just again very rude and attitude. I wasn’t even mad I couldn’t get the sandwich just confused what she was screaming no to.
People have tough days I get it but this is your job and not only was I shocked but so was the girl behind me. This is not how you treat loyal customers to a small business and I hope this can improve soon because this is not the first review!
