Love this place, but was very disappointed in the happy hour oysters on 7/9/25….. very small….. other than that, everything else was great
First of all hostess would not seat us until our full party arrived. I get it however we had my 91 yr old dad with us it would have been a kind gesture if she sat us immediately. Our service was very good. Food was hit and miss. We had 4 in our party. We ordered the greek salmon and it was very good. 2 ppl had the prime rib and it was fatty, thinly cut and not very good. Our other order was a burger and the 91 year old enjoyed it. I would not go back For the high prices, its not worth it. Just my humble opinion
Great service and delicious food!. They were super accommodating to many different food allergies and everything was prepared perfectly.
My reservation for a party of 11 was made in advance, our table was ready when we arrived. The service was spot-on, all dinners were served at the same time. Everyone left full and happy.
Normally, I am not one to complain about service, but my family did not have a good experience at this restaurant. First, there is barely any parking so you have to drive far and walk along the side of the road to park, but they don't seat parties unless everyone is there. This is especially frustrating if you have older family members and they are dropped off. What is the big deal to allow people to be seated as they come? The restaurant isn't even that big and there were like 3 hostesses at the stand anyway. One of my family members (who is 25), ordered a drink but his ID was not scanning for some reason, and they confiscated the ID. Many of us understand that that is their policy to hold it, but the manner and attitude in which our server told my family member about his ID was completely uncalled for. The bartender was okay and way nicer, and we requested for the police to come and run the ID, but the way in which our server handled this was extremely rude. Once the police ran the ID and everything was fine, like we knew it would be, she came back with an attitude, his drink, and his ID and didn't say anything. Overall, we had very poor service from our server. We had empty drinks for about a half hour before we had to flag her twice to get refills. One of my other family members got a burger and did not eat it because it tasted very wrong and off. They also made it wrong with the wrong toppings (when we pointed it out, she blamed my family member and said “well it's really hard to hear you”). It had a funky taste and we were concerned the meat was bad. When we asked the server to please remake or take it off the bill, she said that is the way the burgers taste because it is wood-grilled. At the end of the dinner, she sarcastically asked if we wanted a box so we can take the burger “home to feed our dog.” Additionally 4 out of the 10 meals we had were cold when brought out. Overall very disappointing considering the price.
Went last evening and ordered the prime rib. It was the worst prime rib I have ever been served. I asked for medium rare and it was well done, no seasoning, and whatever grill they placed it on needed to be cleaned as it was bitter as it was burnt.
Ive ate here a few times and it's just ok. The food was really bland this time and the drinks were full of sugar.
We always enjoy the OC! Last night was the first time we had Dawn as a server and she's incredible!! I made sure to stop and let them know how pleased we were with her service. Don't hesitate, it's truly one of the best inner off the island.
Almost Everything about the experience was great with the exception of the noise. We were a table of 10. We were only able to talk to the person nearest to us. Although we live the food, we provide won't be back until the Fall.
Dinner for 4 on 5/20/25. We’ve been loyal patrons of Old Causeway Steak & Oyster for years. My fiancé and I have always had great experiences sitting at the bar… stellar food, attentive service, and a warm atmosphere. But last night was a different story. It was the first time I had ever dined in the main dining room, and the first time my three kids had ever been to the restaurant at all. I even told our server that when she first greeted us. I was genuinely excited to share one of my favorite local spots with them. Unfortunately, the experience was deeply disappointing. We were seated quickly, and our server was initially friendly. Drinks came out, one of them flat, twice. Our appetizer, usually a favorite, was bland. Still, no big deal. We’ve all worked in hospitality and understand things don’t always go perfectly. Then came the entrées. My daughters’ and son’s steaks (yes, steaks at a place with steak in the name) were ordered medium. Both arrived cold and bloody on the inside, clearly raw. One plate was visibly oozing. I tried to get our server’s attention, but she didn’t return until the very end of the meal. When I told her the steaks were undercooked, she defensively said, “Well, I asked how everything was earlier and you said great.” I replied, “We had only had our first bites and had no idea the steaks were raw at that point.” No apology. No offer to fix it. No manager brought over. Just a shrug, a “too late now” energy, and a suggestion to box them up which I almost did. I figured, if I was paying for two barely touched steaks, at least my dogs could enjoy them. But in the end, I left them on the table, deliberately… a quiet way of sending the message she clearly wasn’t getting. Also worth noting: I had the crab cakes, which I’ve had before and loved. Last night, I took one bite and pushed the plate away. They were not fresh. But I didn’t even bring it up… my focus was on my kids’ meals, and I didn’t want to create a scene. That said, any seasoned server should’ve read the unspoken cues: barely touched plates across the table. No one eating. That alone should have prompted a follow-up or a manager check-in. But nothing. Then came the bill: $197, with not a single item removed. When it came time to pay, she hovered over me while I entered the tip, clearly watching. I left a very small one. Which I’ve never done in my life. Even when service is off or food is bad, if the server is kind and tries, they still get 20% or more from me… sometimes extra, because I’ve been there and I have compassion. But last night was a rare exception, and she saw it. She dropped the check holder back onto the table with an attitude and walked away. My son, who works in a high-end restaurant, politely addressed her behavior as we were leaving. Instead of backing off, she got confrontational and defensive, even correcting him about what the check holder was made of (wood, she said)… as if that was the issue. He later returned to speak with a manager and was told there wasn’t one available. Moments later, they sent the same server back out to deal with him again. Clearly on purpose. Incredibly unprofessional. This was an uncomfortable, embarrassing experience, especially in front of my kids. I’ve never left a negative review before, but after years of supporting this place, I can’t stay quiet about how poorly this was handled. Mistakes happen, but how you respond matters. And last night, Old Causeway failed at every step.

Amazing great food, wonderful staff and servers , so attentive but not hovering. Great time out, busy local Friday night when we dined so it was a bit loud, not a reflection on this establishment they were top notch!
Food is great and the service is always on point!
Wings are making, burger was cooked perfectly and the fries are the best here. What more could you ask for? If you love wings, they are a must try here!
