place is great, hours are weird and inconsistent. head chef/owner needs to make up his mind about whether he's trying to run a successful business or not. I love this place and try to come whenever I can but your times are all out of whack

Food was good, service was not.
I've tried going here twice, and both times it's been listed as "open" online, but door was locked and lights were off. I have no idea what up with that, so just call ahead I guess to make sure they're really

I used to love Salt; I visited regularly for good food and live music, recommended it to others and would bring friends from out of town there. After last night’s experience I’m sad to say I will not be returning.Upon arriving we asked if we could eat at the bar; after ordering drinks we realized the bartender was avoiding taking our food order. After a half hour we were finally told in a very matter of fact way that “there’s no eating at the bar.” I’ve never had that experience at another restaurant so it seemed odd that they wouldn’t communicate that when we arrived. Then after another half hour we were seated at a table upfront so close to the music (Rick Fink or something like that was playing) that we couldn’t even speak to one another. We were obviously struggling and the musician continued to play louder and actually made fun of us to the restaurant because we asked to be moved to the back. Our party at Salt last night all play in bands and we all would never be so inconsiderate and rude to listeners/diners. It was embarrassing for the washed up musician forgetting the lyrics and for the restaurant staff, who was so unaware of the crowd flooding out of the dining hall because of his obnoxious stage volume. After several rounds of musical chairs proposed by the staff, we finally got our decent food. Everything was… ok. This used to be an elite local dining experience and now it’s middle of the road at best. I was bragging about the wings to our friend I brought from out of town and he was seriously questioning my judgment after eating the lack luster poultry. The whole experience was bizarre, awkward, unsatisfactory and a bit torturous. Salt should rename their restaurant to The Twilight Zone.
Bradley Boyle is one of NJs top chefs. I’m sad to see them selling. I just hope whoever does end up purchasing carries a proud legacy of consistently awesome plates, specials tap selections and live local entertainment. Long Live Salt!!
As I understand they are trying to sell Salt, I’m going to tell you to save a trip before heading there before they do. I was a regular back in the day. Popped in because I haven’t been there in a while. Well as long as it’s salt, I won’t be returning. They only offer well done burgers. Who wants a well done $17 burger? Service was absolutely awful. Drinks took forever or just forgotten. I could go on and on, I won’t. Just save yourself the trip, go elsewhere.

I have really enjoyed this place in the past. Recommended it to friends and needless to say it was a huge disappointment! Not sure if the kitchen staff changed, but the salmon was drowning in a vinegar soup that took over the otherwise delicious plate and made the mashed potatoes uneatable. The soup was so over-peppered we almost asked to have the chef try it… is it called Salt or Pepper?! ? the beer was warm, the drinks were bad and the bill was $300.As for the ambience, the chairs were old and wobbly, the room was cold and the live music was too loud and not very good. The wait staff was trying, but not much to work with as computers were not working and we received our bill on a hand-written spiral notebook sheet. No discounts for any of the trouble either… did I mention the bill was $300?!Hope you can improve, will be some time before you see us again :(
Food was cooked wonderfully (million dollar bacon, goat cheese fritters, and cheesesteak burger). The burger had a beautiful sear on the outside and seasoned perfectly with fresh cut fries.Service was very slow and it took over 20 minutes to get our drinks and they were so ridiculously weak. One was all ice and only about three sips from the drink before it was done. The other tasted like straight apple juice. The live entertainment was nice.Overall the bar does a disservice since the restaurant is supposed to be a pub. I wanted to support local businesses but unfortunately I won’t be back.
Great decorations and a good variety of beers. Cheers.

food is tasty, service is good, location and music are a treat....menu is a bit pricey
To slow..food ok ...$$ not good for quality of food
Great atmosphere and food!
Enjoyed the Old Curmudgeon cocktail, Brussel sprout appetizer and croquette appetizer, and both pasta mains, especially the gnocchi pesto. Service was good and the live entertainment was entertaining without being intrusive.
I’d compare Salt to a city dump, but that would be insulting to the city dump
