Best French onion soup I ever had. I feel low key disappointed when I go to other restaurants and try their French onion soup and it can’t be compared with the one from the lamp post inn. The staff is very friendly too. They will make you feel special.

Got the table quickly even without a reservation. Was confused as to why there was no bread on the table in such a nice restaurant. Food was good and came out hot and fresh.

I had a catered luncheon for my family and friends for my birthday. Everything was excellent...the service, everyone raved about the food. I can't say enough about the whole birthday party...memorable for years to come!!

I love this place and will be going back there. Next time I go to New Jersey. As soon as we sat down, we were brought an Italian bread. Warm oh my goodness so good. Bobby had a calzone. I ordered a meatball sub. I only could eat half of. It was so good though. And if you look at the picture of the calzone, it was huge. The waitress was so sweet. Just very, very nice people all the way around I can’t wait to go back there.

When one orders a footlong pepperoni calzone they usually expect more than ten pieces on it

I was here with some friends over the weekend for a bachelor party. Not only were the food, drinks and atmosphere great but the staff was also very helpful and super attentive when a friend of ours fell in the parking lot and needed assistance. We can't thank everyone at Lamp Post enough for their exceptional professionalism and making a stressful moment much easier to manage. We truly appreciate it and will be back!

We are not really B&B type people, so I have very little experience to compare others to. We are both experienced travelers, that is my baseline. The grounds are well maintained. There is a small parking area right off the street on the property.

Go to the larger main house, not the smaller one in the back, signs?
We were greeted by the owner who politely got us checked in and showed us our room.

Our room was cozy with a four poster bed and a clean bathroom with a hair dryer. The shower was was not a pleasant experience, however. The barely adjustable shower head aims right at your head. Good luck trying to enjoy some quality shower time. The shower floor itself was slippery as ice.

Our room had no AC, but a more than adequate floor fan to keep things cool. We did have to open a window as it was starting to get stuffy. With the window open I could now hear some road noise, barely noticeable, but you hear it.

The stairs going up to the second floor to the rooms are steep with old style narrow steps. I mention this only as an observation.

Our breakfast was good, with great coffee and an assortment of juices available. The owner is also the chef and server to. We both had some stimulating conversations with the owner and he was proud telling us about his children and their accomplishments.

For us it was a quick getaway as we rented kayaks at Lake Wawayanda on the way in. That actually was the highlight of the trip.

So in review, it was an overall pleasant experience. The bed was very comfortable, the bathroom clean, except for the unpleasant shower experience. As a one time visit, nice, would I return, probably not.
