MJ's Restaurant Bar and Grill

Was ok 10 years ago but nothing has changed and this place sucks so much now.

Went in tonight for the last time. Smells like cigarettes. Old bad everything from floors to tables to food.

Such a shame.

Yesterday, March 1, 2025 I had a disgraceful experience at MJ’s in Tinton Falls. We were a family of 4, two toddlers. We were seated promptly, in a corner next to the window, overlooking the waterfall. My kids were excited. We then proceeded to sit there for 20 minutes. Not one person look at us, acknowledged us, or even bother to say they would be with us soon. It felt like they went out of their way to ignore us. We tried to get their attention but they continued to just walk right by us. After 3 or 4 attempts we realized we were not welcomed there. I feel that if you are a restaurant, you need to treat all guests equally regardless of ethnicity, socioeconomic status, or if they have children. It felt deliberate and it was hurtful. I was embarrassed in front of my family and the other customers. My kids were crying because they wanted to eat there. It was truly despicable.

Our waitress was cheerful & attentive. I never had a chance to wish she would come because she arrived at just the right times. Give her a raise! I enjoyed my Hanger Steak Salad - everything about it was good: steak was just what I asked for (sliced & just a little pink); lettuce was crisp. My only complaint was the noise level: it is always noisy & hard for me to hear (full disclosure, I have a slight problem hearing; no one else in my party complained). If my friends ask for MJ's again I will come.

Parking: I liked the chili a Lot. Parking is an issue: Get there early? Carpool? There is no street parking that I know of. The last 3 times I went (Friday night) I got one of the last dozen or so spots in the lot. Maybe other days it's not a big deal.

Average restaurant. Everything was good. I can’t brag about anything our family had. If you want a good meal, this is your place. Nothing bad to report.

Good burger and the cheesecake was great! Friendly, fast service.

Our first visit. Service was great. Nicole was super attentive and we waited for nothing! Kids meals were great too. Nacho was just ok. Onion soup was amazing. Would come back and focus our adult ordering on burgers and sandwiches and pizza.

The restaurant really needs a renovation! We enjoy the staff & music on the wkend but the rug especially & other parts of the restaurant are falling apart! It's a shame & things could have been done during the covid time! The owner should seriously look into this!

The food was spectacular, amazing even . They fell short with the drink, it was supposed to have sprinkles. The ape pie was scrumptious. The waitress was accurate with order taking, didn't prebuss unless I asked, and the communication was a turndial as she would only stop for 2 seconds the peeew,lol I wanted to speak to manager for praise then the waitress had a complete meltdown as if I was gonna complain. No I just wanted to praise, really not interested in her failed relationship. Nice of manager to comp ape pie. I look forward to going on weekends.

Decided to give this place a try for lunch. BIG mistake! First thing you notice walking in is the smell of mold. Restaurant is a dirty mess. Asked for the Manager and showed him where we were sitting and the dirt and fly around us. He didn’t seemed bothered by any of our concerns. Never going back.

Stopped here for lunch on a Saturday afternoon. Waiter was attentive, portions were large, prices were reasonable! Kid friendly!

Kid-friendliness: Had a kids menu with lidded cups they could take home with them.

The place was run down with cob webs and damp carpet. I tried 3 different places to sit - all of them were dingy and dirty. Got in and got out in 5 minutes. The staff were not surprised that we left.

Wow!! What an amazing experience. 5 stars to our amazing waitress Malerie and the awesome manager Joey. We wanted to sit outside on the beautiful patio and they accommodated us. My grandfather being 94 was so sit on the patio before reminded him of Puerto Rico. Thanks so much y'all well definitely be back. MJs in Tinton Falls is the place to be. This place can’t get any better. You have Laura Kimmy Amanda, John Nick everyone of these guys/gals are on top of there game!! Very polite, knowledgeable, friendly ….Food is good TVs good and you meet tons of local people that are very, very nice

Waited 2 hours for food. Nobody came to serve us we had to do it ourselves ordered 80 worth of food bill was 150 bc they built in a tip when they did nothing to deserve. Complained to what was supposed to be our waitress. She didn't take it off. Said to get the f out and never come back
