Delicious food and fast service for take out when you order ahead. Never dined in but plan to do it at sometime. Will review atmosphere after I dine in.

This unassuming cafe is on the lower level of the Carteret Arms apartments. The residence is a place for the elderly and thus the hours are a bit wonky. Provided you want a meal before 6pm, this should be a go-to spot. Everything is delicious. They lean towards fried foods, but have a great selection of seafood dishes and grilled options. Neighborhood favorites include the island pasta, which is close to divine. On this visit we tried the grilled chicken sandwich and the blackened sandwich, both of which hit the spot. Good greens and cabbage, too. The owner makes homemade desserts. There are a variety of soft drinks and it is otherwise BYOB. There is a small area for dining if you want to eat in.
You Must try the carrot cake pancake. It's out of this world.

First time there the customer service was great.. the island pasta with salmon was very watery presentation was great they really need to work on the cooking skills. Will not return.

Is it too much to expect that your hours of operation is updated online?? I came on a Friday only to be told they are closed because despite it stating they close at 6:30 online, they actually close at 4 (it was 3:53 btw). Unprofessional to not update your hours or any change online if you have an online presence. Do better.

The food was delicious!Basa, wings, shrimp, green beans, zucchini sticks, Mac and cheese, onion rings…yum!Going back for the blackened Basa. The amount of food is very generous. I took leftovers home for a couple more meals.Oh, and the chocolate cake ain’t bad either.

My wife and I eat often from Cafe TOAST. The food is flavorful and on point. The prices are even better for the quality of the food that you'll order. I would suggest calling/ordering about 40min before you actually want your food. A nice small area that offers dine in as well.

Cafe Toast is a winner! I had the oxtail and grits and my father had the blackened salmon dinner with mac and cheese and sautéed cabbage and it was delicious! ? I saw people who were getting their food before us smile as they were shown their order and I did the same when I got mine. Food joy lol . The young lady at the counter was kind over the phone and in person. I will definitely be back! Five stars ?
