Given the chance to eat at a local family owned restaurant or at a chain restaurant, I will always choose local! My biggest reason? They will almost always have better, unique food! As we drove through Trenton, NJ we all started to get hungry, and somehow found ourselves at Covello’s. Wether it was fate or coincidence, I’m glad we got to have their wonderful food! This Italian diner had a great selection of classic, Italian, family-made food! From their cheesesteaks to their classic pizza, my whole family enjoyed it! I personally ordered their fantastic cheesesteak. I think we can all agree the most important part of a good cheesesteak is the cheese and bread! Covello’s hit it perfectly! The cheese was thick and melted through the entire sandwich and the bread fresh and warm! This cheesesteak could not have been made better! Both my parents also got the cheesesteaks, and to say the least, they could not stop eating it! My brother (the EXTREMELY picky eater) got a classic pepperoni pizza and loved it! My sister got a chicken panini and commented “It was really good!” (That’s one of the highest complements you can get from her!) She devoured the entire sandwich and said she would totally recommend it. One thing we can’t forget about is their great garlic knots! Warmed and dipped in their house-made marina, I could eat a million of them! I wish we could have stayed in Trenton a couple more days, so I could try even more of their delicious sounding menu! Anytime I go through NJ, I know I’ll have to make my way back to Covello’s and I recommend you do the same!

The place is very clean and has a nice bright look. The food is average, I would have liked a little more sauce on my pie and I felt the crust was just ok. They forgot part of my order but were quick to correct it when it was pointed out. However, I also over heard someone else complain about a mistake in this order so unfortunately this may be a common occurrence. Please also watch your step especially if you have any sort of physical disability as there is a large step to get into the building.

Really nice place near all the courthouses and state offices. Very convenient. Good sandwiches and salads. Reasonable prices. Friendly staff. Parking is only on the street.

Ordered a regular pie (not thin-crust) for a work function in downtown Trenton. Pizza was delivered hot, and it stayed HOT, until we were ready to eat. Crust was airy, tender, and the cheese was real milk cheese, abundant, and yummy-gooey. Will order from Covello’s again!
