The food is disappointing in every way. The location and the name alludes to a delicious Cuban bakery but some of the staple Cuban items are just subpar. The croqueta is all breading and no ham. Dry and awful.

Great Cuban style bakery and sandwiches. Ordered a made to order cake from Orlando for Mom's birthday. It was delicious. Definitely recommend. Pastries are also really good.Parking: Metered parking nearby.

Nice Cuban bakery! I got 4 types of pastries & all were good. The nice lady explained to me what each were and I enjoyed it. Also got a savory pastry with beef. Which was good.

Wow always when I visit Union City NJ went there like a 100 times or more already last time December 22 and December 30-2023 I can way to go back, all the time the best experience and the best desserts ever love this place delicious Bakery. Today I went there for the first time from Pennsylvania and had some of their amazing pastries, the freshness and the quality of their food is impeccable! The service was amazing and the owner Adis came to us as she was the sweetest and warmest person I’ve ever met. The attention she gave us made me feel welcomed.

El Fenix is a welcome addition to Bergenline. First thought when I walked in was how clean the shop was. It had an assortment of cuban desserts perfectly aligned. I got a bunch of stuff and enjoyed all of them. They also have sandwiches but didn't get them this time. Will be back.

This place is simple yet so amazing. They just have really delicious, flavorful food. I barely ever leave reviews for anything, but I felt compelled to for this place. The woman/women that work in the morning are so sweet and helpful and fast too! I love the chicken empanadas and their guava and cheese empanada..the round one. They have delicious egg and spinach croissants too. Everything is really good.Whenever I work in this area I make it a point to stop in and treat myself. Also, they open at 5AM!! ☀️Come here and enjoy ??
Used to be better back in the day. Still a lot more affordable than a lot of other places.

UPDATE: SATURDAY, JUNE 3, 2023, 10:07PM: I visited this wonderful Cuban bakery a few hours ago. It seems they no longer have the small empanadas with guava and cheese, the ones with the scalloped edges. They have a round one, and they have the large triangle-shaped ones. Also, it was refreshing to see at least one employee wearing a face mask.I love this Cuban bakery! The cafe con leche is muy delicioso, and the pastries are delicious, too. No bathroom, but there are some stools and a counter where you can sit and relax, for a bit.
