I recently visited a Cuban restaurant and left feeling disappointed, as it didn’t represent the quality or authenticity of Cuban cuisine I’ve come to expect. Upon arrival, there was no host to greet us, and we had to wait a while before being seated. Once we were finally seated, we were allowed to choose our table after a few minutes, which felt a bit disorganized.
We ordered a pitcher of lychee mojitos, but instead were brought the classic mojito pitcher, which wasn’t what we had asked for. For our appetizer, we chose the salad, but it wasn’t as described on the menu. The garbanzo beans were missing, and instead, they added cheese, which wasn’t ideal since my husband is lactose intolerant.
For the main course, we ordered a simple chicken dish, but it turned out to be extremely dry—definitely not up to par with other Cuban restaurants in the area. Overall, I was very let down by the food and service. Given the high standards of Cuban cuisine around here, I expected much better. To top it off, I had to ask another server for the bill because our original server was taking an unusually long time.
I left feeling that this place doesn’t do justice to Cuban food, and unfortunately, I won’t be returning

My husband Scott and I dined in this beautiful restaurant and enjoyed every minute of it! The food was delicious, the wine was superb and the service was phenomenal...our server, Mike was great, he went out of his way to make sure that we felt welcomed and ensured that we had an enjoyable dining experience! I told my daughter Ashley about this outstanding Cuban Restaurant and she can't wait to dine there! I highly recommend, The Cuban Restaurant...it is the Gem of Union City New Jersey!?

Lovely neighborhood bar with a nice happy hour. But the highlight here is the staff, everyone is so warm, friendly and just so accommodating and nice. Highly recommend. We have been here twice and will keep coming back! And special shout out to Mariana and Silvia who were our servers today, wonderful folks!

You may be wondering how I reviewed it as 4 stars if everything is 5?? Everything was great, they really improved the place since its predecessor.
The only thing that I (personally) didn’t like was the fact that they automatically added an 18% gratuity to the bill. I wish I would have known upfront rather than be surprised in the end.
