Lowered rating. Food was great but quality has dropped dramatically over the last year.
The last few times we ordered wonton soup the wontons were mushy and tasted uncooked. The sesame chicken sauce was thin and bland.
The only thing that seems to have retained the quality is the egg rolls, sadly.

I moved to Sussex County recently, originally from Passaic. And sadly it’s starting to seem like most restaurants in this area are sub-par. China Star seems to be one of them. The first time I ordered the food was okay. Not bad, not great, just okay. I figured I’d give it a couple of more tries to see if it was an off day. I’ve tried it 4 times since then, and sadly, the first time I ordered has been the best the food ever was. The lo mein is too oily, “crispy” dishes are mush by the time its delivered/ready for pickup, and the dumplings are better categorized as dough balls. Not only that, but service has been exceptionally slow. Food takes forever to be ready, yet is lukewarm and soggy by the time you eat it, which really makes no sense. I don’t think I’ll be going back here again. I’ll drive to Passaic County for better Chinese Restaurants.

Finally decided to try Mongolian beef. Got it home and very disappointed. So I called them and asked did I miss understand? Why is there no water chestnuts or bamboo shoots ? His response was," yeah we don't do that anymore " so basically I'm eating steak with peppers and onions.

I’ve tried ordering for door dash twice from here. The first time it was over an hour and they never made the food. The second time it was also an hour before they made our food. My driver went in, paid them, the guy behind the counter threw away the receipt and told our driver ten minutes. Food never showed up.
