I never write reviews but....

I ignored all the signs that I should not have ordered from Bombay Hut in Waldwick, NJ. I happened to pull into the strip mall to make a phone call and noticed the restaurant. I thought, “I haven’t had Indian in a while, let’s give it a try.”

First sign: I was the only customer in the restaurant. I excused it, thinking maybe it wasn’t lunch or dinner time.
Second sign: The young girl behind the counter took my order and payment while sitting down, rushing me by saying I had less than 5 minutes to order the lunch special.

She told me it would be about ten minutes, so I waited outside. After fifteen minutes, I noticed a brown bag sitting on the counter. Since I was still the only customer, I asked if it was mine. She said, “You’re good to go.”

Well, it wasn’t so good. Back at the office, I opened the bag to find chicken instead of the lamb I ordered. The “lunch special” that supposedly comes with a salad and bottled water had neither. And the portion? Four tiny pieces of chicken. A coworker eating chicken wings next to me actually compared his one wing to my entire “entrée” — he had more meat.

And all of this cost me $18. For that price, you’d expect at least a proper portion and the order done correctly. Instead, I was left with a sad brown bag and a laughable excuse for a meal.

I immediately called the restaurant, and that’s when it went from disappointing to absurd. The same young woman answered and told me she didn’t remember my order because they had “quite a few customers.” (I was literally the only customer.) When I explained I was given the wrong protein and barely any of it, her reply was that “that’s the norm” — and she seemed confused as to why I was even calling.

The entire experience was insulting. From the empty restaurant, to the dismissive service, to the wrong and pitifully small meal, to the non-existent customer service — it was one of the worst dining experiences I’ve ever had.

Final verdict: Don’t waste your time or money at Bombay Hut. $18 should buy you a meal, not a bad joke. There are plenty of places that value their customers and serve actual portions. This is not one of them.

Bombay Hit never disappoints. We had the chicken curry, chicken madras, lamb kheema, and a few Bombay Hut appetizers and every meal was amazing. Thanks for providing a great family dinner that we didn’t have to cook.

The tikka masala, didn't taste like tikka massala, it was more like a Spiced paste instead of a sauce with chicken;
I had to add some water into it for getting it more like it should be supposed to be it.

Also the biryani could be better the chicken was too dry.

the lamb korma also hat a kind of a specific sharp taste for some reason... I don't think this was lamb.

not really a great place,
but if you are hungry you can get some food.
The pricing should be lower because it doesn't require the promise what you have ordert.

All in one thankyou for the meal.

This place has become the finest to the least preferred for my takeout delivery. Two horrible experiences. 1. Food quantity is totally not justifiable for the premium prices they are asking for each menu item. For example $25 plate for butter chicken, then giving the portion that a normal family can not even taste. 2. Customer service is horrible. I went to pick up the food today and decided to pay cash. They did not have a change, and that became my problem. They charge me a full 3% transaction fee for the full amount, even though the credit card charge was only $5 after the difference of a 95% cash payment. Never going back for takeout food.

I ordered the Paneer Kathi Roll, assuming it would be a fully vegetarian dish. However, it came with egg, which was quite disappointing. While the menu does mention eggs, paneer-based items are typically vegetarian, and I believe such non-veg additions should be optional and confirmed during ordering. As a vegetarian, it's frustrating to feel uncertain about what's safe to eat—especially at an Indian restaurant, where you’d expect clear separation between veg and non-veg items.

Additionally, I was overcharged for the Aloo Paratha. The online menu listed it at around $3, but I was billed $7.50—more than double the listed price. I brought this up at the front desk, but the staff said they couldn't help. That lack of accountability really left a bad impression. Overall, I expected better clarity and customer service.

I decided to stop in at this restaurant for lunch. When I arrived I parked in the small plaza parking. I walked into a cute restaurant! I was helped and greeted by Neha the owner and she was great! I ordered:

Manchurian Shrimp (gravy)
Chicken tikka naan
chicken madras
Dahi kebabs
Szechuan hakka noodles
rice pudding

My favorite dish was the hakka noodles and I also loved the naan! All in all it was a good experience!
