I feel transported to the 1950s coming here - there's even a drive thru! The Lantern keeps a delightfully vintage menu and aesthetics - serving up old-fashioned hotdogs, burgers, milkshakes, egg cream(!), fries, sandwiches, wraps, ice cream, breakfast foods and more - but not in any kind of intentional hipsterish way...which makes it authentically hip in my book. Their signature item is the hot Texas weiner. Now a Texas weiner ain't like any other chili dog. It's a fried hot dog, topped with a special spiced meat chili sauce (no beans), which you can and should get dressed "all the way," with chili, onions, and mustard. And btw it's not a Texas thing; it's a New Jersey thing...by way of Greece. The chili sauce on a Texas weiner is particular (and not to be confused with your standard-issue chili con carne), and the taste can be divisive. Some people love it; others like my husband didn't care for the chili or the flavor of the dog. It's one of those things, IYKYK I guess. I for one did enjoy my weiner. And my roast beef club and tater tots w/ cheese both hit the spot. It's simple and straightforward food, nothing fancy. I can get with the back-to-basics-ness of the joint which fits with the theme. This should be an irresistible destination for any road trippers and curiosity food seekers. There is ample seating inside, with two dining sections. And the people who work here are nice. The older lady who took our order was so sweet to put cartoons on the TV for my toddler. Probably 3-3.5 on the food, but bumping to 4 for the kitschy charm, good value, and kind service. I just luv the whole vibe!

The ice cream always tastes more like straight up ice than anything else. The hot dog all the way had a weird sour flavor. I've given this place 3 tries ... now they're out.

We had a craving for a few dogs and a cheeseburger and fries so here we are. Service is always friendly and prompt and the chili sauce is loaded with flavor. I love the shakes as well. For quality and quantity the prices are very reasonable. They menu is large and consists of lots of choices not only dogs and burgers. We will definitely be back for another dog and a shake. Enjoy

You ever have hot grill ? This place is better !! The chili sauce alone is phenomenal.. they recently had an owner change january 1st they are currently updating the menu.. family owned very friendly !!!
We stopped by for a quick bite. Had 2 " all the way" and 2 with mustard and kraut. Fries with gravy and with sauce. Large birch beer to wash it down! This place also has a drive thru! Plenty of parking and seats. Nice and clean with decent prices. They also have ice cream with all the fixings. I'd recommend stopping by anytime including breakfast!Kid-friendliness: Bring the kids!Wheelchair accessibility: Ground level with plenty of parking and accessible bathrooms.

Probably one of the worst places I've ever eaten I got two chili dogs and french. The french fries were bland and tasteless I had to put a half a pound of salt on them. The chili was like water. The chili tasted horrible and I couldn't even tell if the hot dog tasted good because of how bad the chili was. I don't recommend ever going here I was there at 12:30 today and there was one other person inside besides me eating.Parking: Plenty of parking spaces cuz nobody goes here

I've been coming here ever since I was a kid and maybe because I never dealt with the workers myself, I've never had a problem. My boyfriend and I went through the drive through and he was trying to order as she was quickly trying to speak over him and explain what he was ordering wasn't correct. We get to the window and right away she takes the card and does not give him a second to reach back for the card, so instead the girl with the short black hair and piercings started waving his card outside of the drive through window. Mind you, no one else was behind us so I'm curious as to what the rush was. She just seemed very unpleasant and as someone who has worked in this industry I have learned if you aren't happy working there, you find another job. On a positive note, the food itself is always enjoyable, sometimes not the portion size..especially when you pay a good amount of money for it. There is also an older woman with blonde hair who normally I see everytime i go and she is always so sweet! This business could use some happier faces like hers and maybe they would reach a bigger crowd again. Not too sure if I would go back due to the disrespect but would consider it possibly in the future.
