After having many enjoyable visits to this restaurant I am sorry to say I will not be returning.
After leaving last week due to our order still not being taken after at least 30 minutes we returned today. Working in the service Industry myself I totally understand many circumstances that can occur to compromise good service.
Unfortunately today my husband and I were approached by a staff member who proceeded to give us a lecture on patience.
The entire experience was very upsetting and inappropriate.
We were well within our rights on our last visit to leave when we chose to. Returning today in good faith was also our choice only to be treated so rudely.
I am beyond disappointed !!!

Visited this place on a Saturday morning around 11am looking for soul food near Plainfield. We waited in the front area approximately 20 minutes before anyone came to seat us. Once seated, we waited yet another 15 minutes before anyone came to take our order. There were only 4 other tables occupied. (Not super busy.) Once we received our food, it was pleasant. Good flavor but NOT worth the wait. There seems to be a staffing issue. There was a young child assisting in bringing condiments and drinks. We had coffee and it appears that they ration the creamer. We had to ask for more cream THREE TIMES, because they only fill the cream bowls 1/3 of the way. Don’t know if I will revisit this establishment.

I ordered the Mt. Bethal Classic & lemonade. The chicken wasn't fully cooked, to the point of still slightly bleeding. The lemonade pooch was too sweet. My cousin had the fried shrimp and grits. The grits were delicious. The fried fish wasn't seasoned well. I'm a little upset that they didn't offer a discount or something besides an apology for the raw chicken fiasco. This place used to be hitting but has fell off. M hoping theyre just going through something, so I'll go back one day to see if they get it back together.

Everything was good and the staff was nice but the chef was a little heavy handed with the salt. Especially on the chicken and biscuits. I felt my blood pressure rise through the roof

Bigger dining space than previous. Quality of food mediocre not typical southern fare. Expect too salty and greasy southern fried chicken. Portion sizes served are smaller than those served previously. Bayou grits with shrimp came as smaller combo with four shrimp for $35.26..a joke! Poor waiter service and long wait time. Icing on the cake....get hit with a 25% 'Gratuity & Inflation' mandatory charge on every check. Save money and find better places for better food and save your money!

My husband and I love this place! We’ve been going since 2021 as our typical food date without the kids lol. The food is always a hit and it never misses. I always get the fish and grits and it’s 100/10. The biscuits are homemade and super soft and buttery. Also the apple iced tea is absolute best! Highly recommend!!

25% gratuity for. 3 people taken automatically is not good there should’ve been some type of notice that that was going to happen. I always leave my tip based off the service. The wrong order came out. by the time I got my order I was finished with my meal.

Ordered Takeout: , fish (whiting ) and chips and shrimp and chips. The whiting was delicious. The shrimp were tasty as well. However, the batter on the shrimp came off before I had a chance to enjoy it on the shrimp. The portions of the french fries were scarce. Lastly, The coleslaw was sour. The juice was runny. Overall, disappointed.

Cozy and inviting. This family run restaurant is great place for brunch. Very unique experience and worth the wait.

We went on a Sunday morning with a small group to celebrate a friend's birthday. Unfortunately, they do don't accept reservations so there was a bit of a wait to be seated. The reception area offers comfortable seating and is nicely decorated and while you are waiting the you get to witness beautiful plates and wonderful aromas coming from the kitchen to the dining area.

It's important to realize that they make everything from scratch and all meals are made to order. If you're looking for a quick in and out dining experience this is probably not your place. But if you're willing to be patient, your patience will be rewarded with some incredible Southern comfort style home cooking. It's also a BYO so grab something for a brunch cocktail and enjoy the company you’re with while you wait.

Our server was one of the 4 brothers who operate the place and he advised us that the short rib dinner would take longer than the breakfast meals normally do so we were prepared to wait for our meals so we could all eat together. When that short rib on the bone appeared on the table (think tomahawk looking appearance) everyone's jaw dropped. It was served with mac and cheese, candied yams and the best collard greens anyone at the table had ever had. Outstanding.

The rest of us got breakfast meals and they were all delicious. The French toast was perfectly cooked, fluffy, crispy and served with eggs and bacon. Chicken and waffles were banging according to the birthday girl. Spicy shrimp in bayou sauce over grits was creamy and had tons of flavor. My wife ordered the Uncle Bud Pancake which covered the large plate and was served with eggs and bacon. Unfortunately, her meal was delayed, but without even asking they comped her breakfast due to the delay.

I really can't say enough about their food, everything was fantastic. We arrived at 11:30 and seated around noon and we left the table around 1:30. They ran out of a few things on the menu but it's a small place that is only open from Thursday through Sunday. Since everything is scratch made it makes sense that they might run out of a few desserts as I would not expect they want leftovers on a Sunday that they wouldn't be able to serve the next weekend.

For anyone complaining in their reviews that the service is slow, you're not getting what this experience is supposed to be. Maybe we're all just used to faster service because most restaurants do a lot of pre prepping. And if you're a large restaurant that's a necessity. However, this cozy place is transparent on their menu that their meals take some time to prepare and I wouldn't trade the quality of the food I enjoyed for the sake of having it served faster.

We will definitely return!

I've been hearing about this spot so we took the hour drive to try them out. And I must say I was disappointed I had fried Whiting with grits. The grits were not hot and too sweet, I asked for cheese in my grits. They put 2 slices of cheese on the plate and put the grits on top but bc the grits weren't hot it was hard to mix the cheese in. The fish was good. It was already gold outside and it was cold in the restaurant as well. My husband had the Catfish and grits and he thought his food was just okay. Maybe we just went on an off day
