Been coming here for the last 15 yrs since this was a small place run by the owner and his son and daughter. However, today was the last time. It was eid ul fitr, so a special day, which was completely ruined by the now trailer trash white staff they have working there. Made a reservation for 8pm and when we placed the order they said they ran out of white rice. We asked for kabuli and after about 45 minutes the drugy looking white girl came and said they ran out of kabli too. We were like you should have informed is before taking the order. So we said we don’t want the food because we didn’t want their yellow rice which no one really eats for afghani cuisine. Afghani cuisine revolves around kabuli. When we were leaving the little fat bald waiter came and said what’s the problem and we explained and he said oh so you just want the rice? Yeah, we came for proper afghani food which includes kabuli. After that he started arguing and said get out of my establishment. B!tch you’re a server lol after that he started acting threatening and started getting into personal space as if he wanted to fight. Is this a restaurant or are we in the ghettos? The owner needs to looking into the situation. I have read other reviews where customers have complained about similar situations where the little fat white guy has misbehaved. Also from other reviews, it seems like the quality and quantity of food has also gone down.Do your self a favor, don’t waste your time and money and go to some other afghani spot in ny/nj.

What an unexpected, pleasant dining experience. We had the experience of a meal that is a true delight. The pleasures that Silk Road provides are many: the elegant dining rooms, the attentive service, and the wonderful food, the attention to detail, and the friendly atmosphere all come together to delight the customer. We had been out on a dreary day, one of many such days lately. My wife suggested we go to Silk Road, that it would be a treat on such a somber afternoon. An excellent choice! We were promptly seated for lunch. No sooner than we were seated our server had a carafe of water on the table. The decor has been done with care, cloth napkins speak to the pride Silk Road takes in its image. We placed our order. We were immediately served Afghan salad and Lentil soup. The salad was loaded with fresh tomatoes and cucumbers, the lentil soup delicious (and I dislike lentils!). Two pieces of Afghan Bread were served shortly after, piping hot and delicious. We were told the bread is baked fresh in house. We could have been satisfied with these first offerings, which were offered with our entree. My wife had the Large Mantu, which are steamed dumplings filled with minced beef, chives, and afghan spices, garnished with dill yogurt. She shared some with me: delicious! I had Banjan, an eggplant dish redolent with Afghan spices. Both entrées came with Naringe Palaw, a rice with orange and saffron, an intriguing combination of flavors. My wife, who doesn't particularly like eggplant, loved my dish almost as much as I did. A true gustatory delight. The owner spent some time with us, his pride in his restaurant and his cuisine evident, his desire to provide a warm and friendly atmosphere makes for a great dining experience. Do yourself a favor: venture forth to Silk Road. You'll be pleased you did.

I absolutely love this place. The food is delicious! The owner of the place makes you feel seen whenever he is there. He’s such a pleasant, welcoming and warm-hearted person. I’ve been here several times and don’t plan on stopping.
Celebrated a birthday here on a Sunday afternoon. Nobody had eaten yet so appetites were high and we opted for the dinner menu. The waiter was patient and attentive. Started with a lentil soup and salad. Later came the kabobs and various types of rice. Food was tasty. Never had a full Afghanistani meal. Oh and we had delicious dumplings. It was a pleasant experience.

Stopped in for lunch specials and well with the money. It was a snowstorm coming in and the place was still full with regulars. Good portions and flavors from the Middle East.
GRUBHUB ORDER I PLACED. I PAID FOR MANTU, WOW TALK ABOUT A RIP OFF $12.78 FOR 4 MANTUS?! I got my refund from Grubhub, I was looking forward to a good meal, instead I’m starving, I’ve ordered from MANY AFGHAN places.. & Afghan food is AMAZING, but this place is NOT it! NEVER AGAIN!
