Have ordered multiple sandwiches and deserts from Aversa's they never disappoint. Their Vegan sandwich with eggplant, broccoli rob, cheese, and red peppers was awesome. So are their desserts, breakfast egg, roast beef, and turkey, and turkey sandwiches.

staff is friendly enough, but recently the cakes there are stale. and i dont mean "bread left out for a little while" stale. i mean hard, crusty, inedible stale. An almaretto cake and a strawberry shortcake were like that this last time, ended up having to be thrown away. the time before that it was a neopolitan and a german chocolate. their cheesecakes are still okay, but i cant see myself going back amymore if they obviously dont rotate their food once it's old.
update 2/19/25: went again today bc it's local and i figured I'd give another try. the last review is from a few yrs ago. whole cakes that you buy in the cases seem like theyre good and rotated out enough based on some that ive had the last few yrs from birthdays, but i went today and got a slice of choc ricotta cake and the cake itself had a hard, dry consistency similar to a dry sponge on the outside of it and softer, regular cake texture on the inside. i think theyre just not rotating out older cakes slices. got cannolis too and theyre always great. just dont buy cake slices- whole cakes and cannolis only.

So we come into Aversas at least once every 8 days or so and spend anywhere between 30,40 to 50 dollars Bread pudding, rice pudding, mini cannollis and drive from Hammonton area. Today the store was packed as usual and because we can't eat all the items we purchase immediately, I asked the young lady if she would mind wrapping the cannollis a bit tighter sp they'd stay crunchy. She did a great job. While checking out asked for a vanilla glazed donut with sprinkles and while it was being bagged the staff, myself and my husband noticed two pies out of oven. I asked what they were ..smell was great and we all decided on walnut, apple and cream cheese..the smell came over to the register. Upon leaving put tip our normal tip is $5. Every single time. They put items in bag and we left. Driving to Marlton to see if Federal Donuts is finally open, get there and see it's not. I decide to eat my donut and it's not in the bag! Man..we decide to drive back because they're good and we paid for it. We get there it's snowing. Etc. And when I go in and say hey my donut was not in the bag... I get hit with do you know who waited on you? I'm in shock because they can't find the donut and the women apparently is not offering me one. Again who waited on you?..well if anyone in Aversas on Saturday, Feb 15th can tell me who waited on them not knowing the staff., I'll give you $20! All in red shirts, all in red caps, all with gold chains and all the same height, one young lady is a bit taller and all beautiful.The woman would not give me a donut and she was not up front, her I'd remember. She never approached me, she never asked to see my receipt (hmm) said sorry don't know what happened and was staring me down.
I'm embarrassed and humiliated because I didn't want to become the angry black woman and make a scene i ho back outside in the car and cry all the way home.We've been shopping at Aversas for at least 20 years and never has anything of this nature happen ed. They're normally all great. But we all know humiliation when it happens. Do you really think I'm here to try to steal a DONUT! I'm Just saying....teach your staff better customer service. TODAY WE SPENT 36.49 plus 5 dollar tip. Black people are not all thieves just as white people are not all thieves. Called the store when home because I was shocked this didn't feel right. It's always been a happy shop.so i call ask to speak to manager and i get a woman who tells me that what her coworker did not tell me that is what happened and was talking over me. At this point I am hung up on. We decide to tske everything bought back (Happy Valentine's) and while in the store and meet the REAL manager. She's an absolute professional. Unfortunately, it was too late. But I thank her At 65 years old seriously..you're a jerk. both of you. Thanks for the tears in having to explain to my husband, a white guy why I didn't get offered a conversation about a darn donut! Bet he would have gotten a replacement donut no questions. Anyone care to.opine? And this is the last time I don't get a printed receipt! ..
