Best bakery ever !

Have been ordering from Gencarelli's Bakery for years and pricing has never been an issue. I am more than willing to pay for a good piece of cake and completely understand that prices have gone up for everyone. This issue is the horrible cake! The icing was butter cream? Vanilla? but it was was similar to a water/confectionary sugar paste. Every one of my guests scrapped it off and left it on their plates. The cake was ok but the filling had chunks of chocolate mixed. Not one person asked for another slice and no one wanted to take any extra home. I completely understand and was mortified and embarrassed to serve such a poor quality cake. PS- I threw the remaining cake out as soon as I got home. Needless to say, I will not return to Gencarelli's and based on some of the recent reviews, I know that I am not alone.

Hazelnut cake is to die for, donuts are delicious! Would recommend this place to everyone!

I ordered a cake from this bakery for my daughter’s baby shower, and unfortunately, the experience was very disappointing. I had clearly communicated the design and details I expected, and was assured that they could and would meed my needs. However, what was delivered looked very different from what was promised. The decoration lacked care and quality, and the overall appearance was underwhelming.

Worse still, the taste of the cake was unpleasant. The inside was heavily saturated with the taste of artificial food coloring, making it difficult to enjoy. None of our guests liked it, and for such a special occasion, that was especially disheartening. Given the importance of the event and the cost involved, I expected far better quality and attention to detail.

I rarely leave negative reviews, but in this case, I feel compelled to share so that others can make an informed decision. I hope the bakery takes this feedback seriously and improves both their communication and product quality moving forward.

Not worthy

Amazing cake

Don’t go if you don’t fit in. Stood there like morons for over 10 minutes. People walked In Behind about 5 minutes. If you aren’t white or upon white don’t go. I have an arm full of tattoos and was completely ignored!! HORRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE!!! PS their pastries are compared to aldi’s or lidl. MEDIOCRE AT BEST.

The best place for sweet treats! Such variety! And lovely people.

First let me just say that I was disappointed by the lack of empathy for people that come into this establishment. I went in and the door was completely open and it was really early. If the establishment is closed then don’t have the door unlocked. The lady in the bakery with brown hair was down right mean when I said were you open. Remind you I haven’t been there in a long time. I asked are they open? No we aren’t open and she yelled at me pretty bad! If you want to keep customers be nice to them but that’s how all bakery’s are on the east coast especially in NJ and NY. Total embarrassment and by the way the donuts and the pastries are overpriced and bland! I then I went later they tried to be nice to me and be two faced but I don’t take crap from anyone and will not be shopping here anymore!

Delicious cake. I saw Gencarelli’s on channel 12 News and I knew I had to give them a try. I was not disappointed. I went home with the crumb cake with Bavarian cream in the middle. I traveled almost 40 minutes from the Shore to Wayne and I will be going back soon.

The cakes and pastries are delicious, not too sweet. I gave service a 3 because when it's crowded it's kind of like a free for all of who will get served first. Then again the stuff is so good it's worth the wait!
