We have been coming here for years and sad to say on Valentine's Day we found out they are out of business. Would as been nice if they would had something, I was there 2 weeks ago.

I go there for the lunch special at least once a month. Good amount of food at a decent price. Too bad we ate the Kani salad before I remembered to snap a picture. Get it! You won't be sorry (for those who like crab). The sushi is amazing and hibachi special is very good too. Veggies taste fresh. Service is on point; your drink, soup or salad comes to your table within 5 minutes of you being seated.

If I could give this zero stars, I would. Went to Umi's with a reservation. We arrived half hour before and there was only one group ahead of us waiting for a table (don't know if they had a reservation or not). Side note, when I made the reservation, I mentioned it was my son's birthday. They didn't acknowledge us when we came in, but we were early so I let it slide. But, I did let them know at our reserved time that we were there and still waited another 15 minutes before being seated. We ordered drinks, mine being a green tea. It was cold when I got it. Everyone ordered their hibachi meals and I wanted to order a side order of hibachi steak, which is listed on the menu, as such. Due to my dietary constraints, I can only tolerate a small portion of protein. I wasn't looking for any of the other things that come with the hibachi meal. They wouldn't give it to me stating "that menu is for babies" (what baby is chewing on a steak?). There is a kids menu that clearly states 10 and under. But more importantly, why have a set of side orders listed on your menu if you aren't going to honor it? She refused to accommodate me. She was very nasty about it. I wound up having nothing. She let me sit there with no food and cold tea. I got up and sat outside while my family ate their meals. I went back in towards the end for my son's birthday dessert, but surprise, they never honored that request either. So a big FU to Umi.

I have ordered a few times for here both pick up and delivery. I have never say down and are here. There place is nice looking and very clean but I'm here to review the food. Out of all the places I have tried do far in Wayne although it's not my favorite the food is good. Other then that I really can't say a bad thing about Umi. Unfortunately for me when I eat the sushi, it didn't give me that wow experience in my mouth but like I said it's good food

If I could leave 1 star I would. Of all the hibatchi places I've been to in the area this was by far the worst service. My chicken was rubbery and inedible my waitress Mary proceeded to raise her voice, put her fork into my food, picked up my chicken with her hands to determine if it was rubbery. I requested the chicken be taken off and she charged me for every possible thing in my plate making my bill MORE expensive than it would have been with the chicken hibatchi. I have never been to a restaurant where they touch your food and charge you extra for horrible food and horrible service. I will be calling the owner.

The place used to be awesome in the 1990s and 2000s. They have not done anything with it since. It is still good but it is not the same place it was 15 to 20 years ago

We frequent Umi several times a week. One would be hard pressed to find another Japanese restaurant in the area that has such consistently wonderful food and a friendly staff.

We went on a Tuesday evening and it was quiet. The food was fresh and service was great. The best part about the experience was that they were very careful with my daughter's severe allergies. They asked questions multiple times to make sure they accommodated her needs.

This restaurant is located in a strip mall on Hamburg Turnpike. The inside is very pretty and there are some booths you can sit at Japanese style and eat........I did ask for western utensils however. Each table seems a private space and the menu is standard Japanese food, such as sushi, tempura, Hibachi, Udon noodles..... I got a lemonade to drink and an appetizer of blue crab and scallion pancakes. There were 3 pancakes on my plate and this was absolutely delish. In fact, this was my favorite part of the meal. Very light and yet filling. Next to come out were Miso soup with a small green salad. I am not a Miso soup fan but my companion loved it. My entree was shrimp tempura which came with a side of sauce. I had six shrimp and veggies as well, all tempura style, which is fried with a coating of batter. The portions were large and I could not finish. My companion got some sort of glazed beef dish with asparagus as the vegetable. Dessert was a huge bowl of creamy vanilla ice cream which was only $3.

the server was nice but the fish didn't taste fresh, some were watery. the presentation and variety of the fish in the sushi deluxe wasn't that good. price was not bad.
Best sushi in North Jersey. Always perfect presentation and so delicious. There are so many sushi places around but this one is by far the best.

Love this restaurant. The waiters here are kind and provide excellent service. The atmosphere of the restaurant is fitting for a Japanese place. The sushi here is to die for. The fish was fresh and they weren't cheap--they put a lot of fish into the sushi's. Overall, great place. Would love to come again.

First Impression was very good. When you walk in it's clean and tastefully decorated. If you go for Hibachi, there are 6 cooking station in one large room and if gets very loud even with only 4 tables being used. Hibachi meals were all bland. We had a variety of different dishes and everyone felt the same. You can tell the food was fresh and we got some sushi for an appetizer which was good. I truly believe that 3 Stars is a fair rating for the cuisine especially when you consider there is quite a bit of competition in the general area. I would consider trying it again in the future but I'm certainly not in a rush.

Placed an order for delivery the other night and spent close to $50 on sushi. You have the nerve to charge your customers 50 cents extra per side of spicy mayo. The principle of that is ridiculous. Also, your delivery driver had an attitude problem. Will no longer order from you again.
