Charrito's used to be a great place, but now everything is more expensive and you feel rushed out/uncomfortable while trying to enjoy your time there. $19 for Guacamole and chips is crazy, smaller portions of food, constantly being watched at your table to buy more things if u want to stay longer even though you're a paying customer, and last but not least, the tall young server with the ponytail who made Guacamole last night needs to learn some manners. Such an unhappy looking person working in a restaurant atmosphere. Never said hi or anything. Thanks for the memories Charrito's, but we'll be going elsewhere in the future.

Great food, beautiful views, wonderful service. Street parking is difficult to find if it's around dinner time but they do have valet as well.

Best vegan Mexican food I've ever had for sure. The enchiladas i ordered were cooked to perfection, soooo fresh and flavorful and I love the almond-based cheese and crema they use. Waiters were so friendly and funny and the decor inside is GORGEOUS! (And also you can get a view of the NYC skyline right across the river)

Love the place, the food and the VIEW! The best of the best! Their molcajete is my favorite dish.

We dined at El Charrito in Weehawken with a group of 8 people (5 adults and 3 kids). We ordered 5 adult meals, 3 kids meals, two guacamoles, water, and one lemonade — and our bill came out to about $340, which averages around $40 per person.

Unfortunately, the portions were extremely small and not shareable at all, especially for the price. We left feeling like we paid a lot for very little food. The food quality itself was okay — I’d rate it about a 3 out of 5 — but nothing memorable or worth the high cost.

Atmosphere and service were both good (I’d give them a 5/5), but overall the experience felt very overpriced for what you get. For the portion size and food quality, it just wasn’t worth the price. We likely wouldn’t return for a full meal.

Food was good, portions have shrunk, prices doubled. 4 Adults & 4 kids (kids menu) was about $42 per person… Not worth the money considering there’s tons of authentic mexican restaurants nearby for a 1/3 of the price.

Me and my girlfriend walked in one day to eat. We were very excited to go because we had been talking about trying this place since we both moved to Jersey in June. We walked in, it was cute. Very decorative and pretty. It was also very empty, there was one other table. We originally go to the bar but saw a 4 top right next to the window with a great view so we wanted to sit there. Let me first inform you that upon walking in there was no one to greet us, so we kind of stood there for a sec not sure where to go because there were stairs that go up, and to the right was a desk and curtains. So we decided to just go through the curtains and walk into the seating area. I’m Puerto Rican and white, my partner is full Puerto Rican but light skinned and could pass for white. The way we were looked at was as if they were thinking, why are these white people coming in here. No greetings, no smiles, no hello hi, nada. We go to sit at the table and they said no we cannot sit there. The way it was brought about rubbed me the wrong way. It was completely empty, and the attitude was very condescending. I’ve bartended for 18 years, have management experience and have run my own bar. If it’s empty, and no reservations, there should be no reason that a guest cannot sit at a 4 top. My girlfriend is in the same business so we were both like what? So I stated we want to sit there, it is empty and we are going to order a lot. I wanted the 42$ steak and what not and we tip well. They seemed flustered. I don’t know if it was the manager or the owner, but a tall bald guy came and said we cannot sit there. Then the bartender came and started to go back and forth with us. Had there been reservations, or it was busy, I understand two people not being able to sit at a 4 top, however none of these were the case. We are not uppity people, we come from humble beginnings and took a long time to get where we are financially and career wise. That check was going to be 200$ at the least. I felt very discriminated against, racially, and will never return. I felt they did all that because we look white, we both however do understand and speak Spanish fluently, and understood the things they were saying as if we couldn’t. That place seems to only cater to those they consider their own, and judged base off looks. They didn’t want us there from the moment we walked in. I was very excited to try this place. I was beyond disappointed. If I could do 0 stars I would. They should be embarrassed and shamed for treating potential customers as they did. The condensation was relevant, the disgust in their faces paramount, and the whole atmosphere was WE DONT WANT YOU HERE.

The restaurant’s food and the atmosphere created is great but definitely not the Service. The lady at the counter is rude and was rude at every interactions we’ve also had in the past visit. Overall servers are good but the lady managing the place wasn’t, do better!

Have been coming here for about 5 years a handful of times. The prices are now astronomical. Chips and salsa used to be provided at the table, it’s $8 now. Getting guac as an appetizer is now $20? Menu prices for all entrees are up at least 4%. The food, views and overall atmosphere is great but the pricing is getting out of hand.
