Another visit to Chez Michel and another great assortment of pastries! This time I ordered the Quiche Lorraine and a Chocolate Croissant with Almonds and both were delicious! If Michel were to put a coffee bar in here I would spend all day drinking coffee and eating his spectacular pastries!

Our new favorite bakery in Cape May. Chez Michel offers a huge selection of French pastries, gluten free items, mousse cups, croissants, quiches, various types of cinnamon buns and more. Typically, prices for any kind of food in Cape May are outrageous and exaggerated, and some things here are high for sure, but there were also some pleasant pricing surprises and overall it was reasonable for such high quality.
The chocolate cake slice had cake layers that were rich, moist and full of flavor; be sure to eat it at room temperature so the icing gets to a softer consistency. Another winner was a savory croissant, topped with just-slightly-sweet cheese and big chunks of bacon. Best of all was the butter bun; it's like a cinnamon bun crossed with butter cake.
The place seems spotlessly clean, and the counter staff was so friendly. Graham greeted us with a big smile and answered all our questions, great attitude and customer service. Everything here looked so good, this place is a gem, can't wait to go back again.

We got a sheet cake for my wife’s birthday (yellow cake with white buttercream icing) and it was absolutely delicious. Everyone really liked it. We will definitely order again in the future. Thank you!

Picked up an apricot bar while I waited for my coffee at Cafe Ostara next door to be ready. It was delicious!!

I love a good bakery. I don’t live close to any and Chez Michel is a treat when I vacationed in Cape May. There is ample parking and the staff are professional, courteous, and efficient. We had no trouble parking or quickly getting a variety of treats, even on a very busy weekend.

Staff was very rude to us. Arrived 4 minutes before opening and door was open, so we started to walk in but were told they’re closed, which was fine. We then proceeded to wait outside for two minutes, and then a staff member came over to us, said “excuse me!” in a rude way, and shut the door in our faces. Pretty sure we didn’t do anything to deserve that.

Was looking for a gluten free pastry and this place did not disappoint. Chez Michel had the best gf chocolate cupcake and brownie. Will be back the next time I’m in Cape May!

Looks good, but no vegan options today. Seems like they don’t make vegan stuff anymore.

Great authentic French bakery. Everything they make is great. Huge fan of their butter buns and when they have butter cake, buy it. Fantastic best cake ever. Highly recommended from breakfast bites , cakes , bread and so much more.

AMAZING croissants, cronish and baked goods. Have been going for the last several years. Aileen who used to work the counter was so kind and pleasant. Stopped in a few times this week as well as a family member of mine and new short, old, brunette lady has been very curt with us all. Hope they find someone else who can brighten up the service.

I bought quite a few things from this little gem close by the sea. The almond croissants are filled with oozing light sugary almond curd, sandwiched between a traditional croissant, topped with more almond curd and almond slices. It was my favorite of all of the pastries in my opinion. The danishes were of many variety. I bought blueberry and cherry, but there were more. Apricot puffs. Fruit pastries a-plenty! They were all so delicious. I wish I could travel two hours away just to get more. The elephant ears were big and flaky, just how everyone loves them! Irish soda bread for the season! But the star of it all was the chocolate cake that I bought for my birthday. As I made my way in, early morning, I had hoped and prayed that they would have made a chocolate cake that day so I can bring home to my family. I wish I had a picture and I will try to see if I have one, but it was a gorgeous thing! My kids will only eat ice cream cake, but they gobbled down every single crumb and asked for seconds. The cake was perfect and the icing was my favorite part. It is a light buttercream frosting, which I can only describe as a better-cream consistency, but most certain they made Every bit of it in that kitchen from scratch. I absolutely adored this place and I do highly recommend!

Parking: 2-3 miles from beach.
