Cozy neighborhood café with very relaxing vibe

Had a BLT that hit the spot. Cool art and fun ambiance. Incredibly kind and joyful staff. A true community space like no other!

Found this spot via Google—rating was 4.8, so of course my wife and I had to check it out. We kept it simple: I ordered the 2 eggs with bacon platter, and my wife had a bacon and egg breakfast sandwich on a roll.
Unfortunately, the food didn’t live up to the rating. The eggs were bland, and the bacon wasn’t anything to write home about—might be worth sourcing a better quality brand. My wife felt the same; she said the sandwich was pretty flavorless, and honestly, the best part was the bun.
As for the coffee, that was another letdown. I got a drip coffee with half & half, and my wife ordered a cappuccino. Both were pretty bad—weak and lacking depth. To top it off, we waited around 12–13 minutes just for the coffee, which felt excessive given how slow the shop was at the time.
I genuinely love supporting Black-owned businesses, so I’m sharing this as constructive criticism. I hope the team takes it in stride and continues to grow, because the potential is there—but the experience just wasn’t it for us this time.

This Cafe has thought of everything.
They use frozen Ice coffee for the ice for its Iced lattes and coffee. Pancakes and French toast probably the best I ever had (it’s the syrup.). Loved the staff and playlist. You can just get lost and time doesn’t exist. Highly recommend.

It was just ok. I expected better bacon and better eggs. The eggs had no flavor. My coffee was not made by the own and it was disappointing.

Absolutely LOVE Harpers Café in West Orange, NJ hands down my favorite coffee shop around! From the moment you walk in, you’re greeted with warm, relaxed vibes that make you want to stay all day. The coffee? Always on point- smooth, rich, and brewed to perfection every single time. And don’t even get me started on the avocado toast… it’s next-level delicious. Perfectly seasoned, fresh ingredients, and so satisfying without being heavy.

The best part, though, has to be the owner. So kind, welcoming, and genuinely cares about creating a great experience for every single guest. You can feel the love and intention in every detail, from the cozy decor to the thoughtfully curated menu. Whether I’m catching up on work, meeting a friend, or just stopping in for a quick pick-me-up, Harpers Café never disappoints. A true gem in West Orange!

I ordered myself 2 scrambled eggs (w/o cheese), with Turkey bacon (2 strips) &
French toast w/ a sweat T. My gf's niece ordered 2 scrambled eggs (w/o cheese), pork bacon (2 strips) & pancakes w/ apple juice...and i was charged $49.36 for the 2 breakfasts and the food was trash. It was my 1st time going there.
I WILL NEVER PURCHASE FROM THAT BUSINESS EVER AGAIN, WITH THOSE RIDICULOUS PRICES, FOR 2 BREAKFASTS.

I had the pancakes and turmeric latte on Friday (11/22/24) and ordered online delivery Saturday (grilled cheese). This is how amazingly delicious the food/latte is. I took my friend for her first visit and she said the latte felt like a hug and the simple egg sandwich was delicious! We left and didn't feel heavy. I'm not a latte drinker but I have tasted my twin sister's when she orders from the big businesses. Disgusting!! I tried the turmeric latte for the health benefits of the turmeric and was skeptical. Oh my heavenly goodness. Now, THIS IS A HOW A LATTE IS SUPPOSED TO TASTE!! DELICIOUS!!!!! I'm surprising my twin sister with a turmeric latte for her after work treat. This is how an atmosphere should feel. Noone needs LOUD music when they're eating and want to share a conversation.

Unsure how they got good reviews! The coffee is disappointing almost ruined espresso for me. The service is below average. But the place has potential though just needs better staffing.

The matcha was delicious, not too sweet. Breakfast sandwiches were great but the homefries were heavily seasoned with Sazón so they were on the saltier side. Otherwise the service was great!

They have great ice cream flavors even with some son dairy options that are absolutely heavenly. The vibe is so relaxing and the service is on point.
