I always order the chicken. It is so fresh. Cooked perfectly. It's the best around. Everyone else I dine with orders the red meat items and they all say it is amazing. They have great Italian items too! The service is great. Everyone is friendly. The prices are so reasonable. Great place. You can't go wrong here with Sal and his family at the helm of this fantastic family owned restaurant and butcher shop. A total gem in Westwood, NJ!

We went for dinner. AMAZING hamburgers and sides. Several different cuts. Very fairly priced. Solid meals. Great staff. BYOB. They also have a nightly steak special that is directly from their amazing butch. We didn't order it but would if I wanted a steak the next time.

Huge Disappointment! Both service and food. Where to start. We walk in, it's one other table and us. We sit down, waiter eventually comes over to ask if we want drinks. We ask for water and iced tea. We order the fried pickles. The pickles were actually delicious till they weren't, when I found what looked to be a coarse and stringy dark pubic looking hair fried in to the pickle. My husband and I both ordered the same burger, both the same way, medium. The restaurant has filled up now with about ~10 tables or so. We put our order in ahead of them, yet somehow our burgers come out after everyone else has eaten, including someone who came in behind us, that ate and left! Finally our burgers come, after having shown the staff the pickle, with the hair. Our waiter actually wasn't the one we showed it to, cause he was off doing who knows what, (not paying attention to us at all) but another young girl came by asked if we were done to clear those plates, that's when we showed her the pickle. She said, let me go get your waitress (again it was a man) and for about 5 mins or so, no one comes back. Finally a woman shows up from somewhere in the kitchen and is aware and looks at the pickle with hair and clears it from the table and says she's gonna show the kitchen. It's not acceptable. Ok. So we are waiting for the burgers. Watching the entire restaurant get their food before us, having come in after us. So now we're contemplating leaving, because service is oblivious and unaware, people just walking around looking busy, while in actuality ignoring us, then our food comes. Yay, we're hungry, and also it's now about an hour later. My burger comes out pinkish/red in the middle, burnt on the outside, and cold. My husbands comes out burnt, like someone took a spirals to it and pushed it in to the grill to actually try and burn it. So the waiter finally shows up and asks how it is, my husband being non confrontational says "good" in a displeased voice, just to get on with it, and I said, yeah, actually not so good, mine is pink his is burnt and we both ordered medium. Not to mention mine was cold. The waiter than comes up with some lame excuse "that meat you ordered (dry aged- the most expensive one) can have different colors. Ok, please don't try and bullshit me. I'm pretty sure the dry aged burgers are frozen, then cooked in a hurry (gets burnt on the outside) but still defrosting and pink on the inside. Fee upgraded for $5 the fries, to garlic parm, and truffle. Both lacked flavor immensely. No actually parm on the fries. This place was beyond disappointing. They comped the pickles. The most disappointing thing about this entire experience, was it seamed like it could be great, but the lack of care or concern, the blatant ignoring us from the waiter. The waiter never came back and said a word about the hair, after I expressed the truth about the burgers not being cooked he said he would tell the chef, ran away, and never returned. I tried catching his attention, looking at him directly, walked by me several times, directed his attention everywhere but to us, it was pretty obvious that the waiter didn't like us for some reason. We asked for the bacon to be crispy, maybe that's why the waiter didn't want to deal with us? Eventually I stood up, put my coat on, walked to the front where I found the same lady that took away the Pubic hair pickle, and told her I want to pay my bill and leave. She asked if I got the bill, after I told her the waiter appeared to be too busy to give us our bill having waited an unrealistic amount of time. Will never return. Looks like it could be a great spot, but service was sub par, making excuses for a very poorly cooked burger, and pickle pube hair, NO THANK YOU! Will never spend my money at an establishment such as this, especially when paying those prices for a burger that is cold. Burnt and raw all at the same time. Smoke and mirrors!!

Great place for a solid burger. We also enjoyed the fried pickles and Bavarian pretzel. They renovated recently and seem to have more dining room table space now.

Excellent meat! Friendly staff! I've been there 3 times for lunch and never had a bad lunch . Their soup is to die for. For Christmas I always get a gift certificate for my son in law who loves their meat.

This place is just meh. Burger was good but for the price you pay to have it served on a Martin's potato bun... eh. Atmosphere is lacking but the service and staff are very nice!

The best burgers and very good fries. I love that I can go and have lunch or dinner and then stop at the case with all their lovely prepared food to bring home some additional meals. They have the best chicken cutlets. I bring them home and make my own chicken parmigiana with them.

What a great find! Very old school feel inside. Staff were beyond polite and attentive. The burgers here are so juicy and rich. Really happy I went in to try this spot. Had the French burger with dry aged meat. Really happy about my choice!

I do have to say, the food at this Westwood Prime Meat is delicious! They have delicious french fries, and their burgers are out of this world! The one issue I've had at Prime Meat is the service when I've eaten there. We sat at a table outside over the summer, and they messed up my boyfriend's order, forgot to get drinks when we asked, and at one point we were waiting there for about 30 minutes when she forgot our table. It was disappointing because I do enjoy the food very much. My recommendation is that if you go there to dine in, be sure you don't have to be anywhere afterward, as if they're crowded or if you sit outside, it may take some time.

Delicious freshly made meals, plenty of variety whether dining in or taking out and all reasonably priced. The place has an overall homey feel and friendly staff are very attentive. Love supporting this local establishment and hope it continues to thrive. Give it a go then post to let everyone know!

This week I went in and ordered 3lb of filet mignon roast. I asked for instructions to cook since it was for Christmas dinner. My husband and I picked up meat yesterday. When we got home and opened up the package we realized we had Prime Rib not filet mignon roast. I called back to ask about now cooking instruction for this different piece of meat The response to my questions was rude and dismissive And when i repeated my question about why this was not what I thought I ordered. He the owner was so rude and ugly in his response. Although the meat was delicious I will never return because of the rude treatment of a customer on Christmas Eve no less I rarely post reviews but felt the poor rude service outweighed the good meat products

This is such a gem in town. It's like a local Italian market but you can come in and eat towards the eating area in the back. Service was exceptional and very family-like, which I absolutely love. I ordered the bone marrow sandwich and it was really good and tender. I highly recommend it!

Owner/ butcher is rude and nasty. Over priced to boot. Plenty of good butchers in the area that provide excellent service and better pricing.

I would like to start by saying that was one hell of a burger, possibly the best I have had to date. I came here to grab dinner with friends on a Saturday night. This burger joint is in the same location as the butcher in the heart of Westwood. Prime Meats is BYOB and has about 10 tables so I would highly recommend a reservation. We sat down and ordered some shredded short rib poutine for the table and OMG were they delicious! The fries were nice and crisp and a bit soggy in spots that the gravy was poured over which I love. The cheese curds were delicious and the meat of the short rib was so tender. Really loved that app! For dinner I ordered a classic burger SSB which is a short rib, sirloin & brisket blend and it was absolutely amazing! There was a crust on the burger that I thought there was bacon on it when I bit into it and there wasn't. It was absolutely delicious and cooked to a perfect medium. My fries were delicious as well and I can't wait to come back for another burger! If you are in the Westwood area and looking for a good burger look no further!

prime meats is a butcher/ Simple dinner burger spot in the heart of Westwood. If your craving a burger , you can't go wrong coming to Westwood prime meats. There Tables inside and a few tables outside which are nice to eat in the summer. Waters were tentative and quick with orders. All burgers were delicious and the bone marrow appetizer was also a hit. Byob is also plus !!
