Absolutely loved our experience at AOI Japanese Restaurant in the APA Hotel Woodbridge!

From start to finish, everything was perfect. We ordered the miso soup, two rolls, calamari, edamame, chicken, Shrimp Tempura (my fav) and finished with fried ice cream — both red bean and mango flavors. Every single dish was fresh, flavorful, and beautifully presented. The fried ice cream was the perfect sweet ending!

The atmosphere is cozy yet elegant, and the staff was incredibly friendly and attentive — they really made us feel welcome and taken care of.

If you’re in the area or staying at the hotel, this place is a must-try. Can’t wait to come back again soon!

We have a big event with 73 people on 4/27/2025. The restaurant provided very good service for us despite we have a lot of people. The food is fantastic and delicious with high-quality.

Food tastes good but the prices are rather high for the quality and portion of the meal. Service was good.

Surprisingly, there were only about ten tables of guests in total, and the food was served in an unusually chaotic manner. I had to wait for an hour to get it, and all the rest were finished! The ramen and curry rice were both very salty. I didn’t eat much rice and drank enough water. The taste of a Japanese restaurant has nothing to do with Japanese food.

Went to this place on a whim craving sushi, well omokase. That being said i know most places around the area are not high end and often have medium quality sushi and variation this was a nice breath of fresh air. The restraunt was located inside the hotel so dont let that mislead you. The food was amazing the atmosphere although small was fitting and service was superb. The only thing that was underwhelming was the way the omokase was broughtout. Seeing people order the omkase it was brought to tables and bar seaters the same way and felt very unpersonalized making it more of a high end sushi dinner than an actual omokase expience. That being said the prices were on par with NYC prices and having food from both locals, I can say that the food was just a bit lower quality than the places in the city, which is impressive.

Amazing food! The price is for both the food and experience. Our waiter is the most friendly and professional we’ve ever had and he is also very friendly outside of business hours as well. The fish is very soft and the nigiri here is not like any other local sushi spot. They also give you some free appetizers which is great!

This was the first time I visited this Japanese restaurant. It is located inside the APA Hotel. I recognized the 板前さん behind the sushi bar. His sushi skills are greatly verified by a lot of customers. If you know Josho (常照) in central Jersey, you know what I'm talking about. Overall, the food you used to have in Josho, you have it here with the same Josho 'aji' you had. The service was also prompt and polite. I do believe I'll come back often for more.

Had high expectations after reading the reviews, quite disappointed by the quality of the fish and rice. Can’t compare with NYC quality. Good for casual lunch with a roll, not fine dining for celebration..

The price has risen again this year. It doesn't feel as high as the previous cp value. The food is still very fresh.

Great, legitimate Japanese food that is otherwise nonexistent in Central NJ.
