This is a traditional NJ diner but with much better and more creative food options. I didn't get the vegan pancakes but they must be good because I kept hearing tables of people ordering them who were not vegan because I also heard them ordering bacon, etc. There portions are HUGE! I had leftovers and I never have leftovers as a proud member of the Clean Plate Club. We did not run into a single grumpy worker, which tells me this is a place that treats their people right 🧡 Bonus: parking was plentiful!

We regularly drive from DE just to come here, and it’s always worth it. It has the feel of a classic diner with a more modern, comfortable atmosphere, including spacious booths and a bright, welcoming interior. The service is consistently excellent, the food is always great, and the portions are generous (especially for the price!). Try the hot chocolate - it is delicious.

I’m not exaggerating when I say the vegan menu at Colonial Diner is INSANE. Like… reassess-your-standards insane. • Seasonal special: the Korean wings. Crispy, saucy, addictive. And the ranch? OMFG. OMFG THE RANCHHHHH. I would drink it if society allowed it. • Poutine: felt like it was airlifted straight out of Halifax. Comfort food perfection—salty, rich, and unapologetic. • Buffalo chicken salad: UNREAL. Actually spicy, actually balanced, actually satisfying. • Important note: the chicken tenders are NOT the same as the Korean chicken with a different sauce. Different texture, different vibe, different execution. Respect. • The lasagna: BLESS LAWD. This thing is sinful in the best way—layers on layers of “how is this vegan??” • Dessert: the mousse is unreal, and if you know what you’re doing, ask for the off-menu gelato (yeah, it exists). Absolute knockout.
And last but not least—Brandon, our server. Dude smashed it out of the park. Crazy attentive, super on point, even during the holiday rush. That level of service matters, and he delivered.
Bottom line: If you think vegan diner food is mid, Colonial Diner will humble you. Go hungry. Go curious. Leave full and loud about it.

I feel like I’ve absolutely been ripped off. I spent over $120 on four meals and they’re not even edible. I spent $40 on a fried seafood combination and literally the scallops are the size of dimes and the shrimp is a size of a quarter and it’s all breading I never received my baked potato. My wife got fried flounder you can’t even hardly find the flounder and it’s dried out. My two sons had hamburgers and are so dry. I am so absolutely disappointed from this place. Absolutely disgusted that this place ripped me off
