Absolutely amazing staff, so kind and welcoming. Food is deadly, and great live music. Truly worth the drive if you're from out of town.

Great view of the harbour and restaurant decor is nice. Unfortunately the food was quite disappointing for 5 of our group of 6 (for example a chicken burger was actually two chicken strips on a bun, salmon was bland and rice tomato-based pilaf with asparagus was actually plain rice with green beans). The service was lacking: while waiting an hour for food, server never returned to ask if we wanted a second drink. Music (live) was quite loud and killed conversation for us. Would not recommend at present.

Walked in to have a drink on the patio. Server came over to drop a menu to us. We said we only wanted a drink and she replied we need to buy some sort of food with it , we agreed but never saw anyone for at least a half hr. Finally got up and left. Poorest of service. Never going back
Got some great pictures but this place is destine to fail if they don’t get their act together.

From reading the reviews here I see our group are not the only people who experienced terrible service at the Rise Over! We waited 11/2 hours for our food! When we asked about the food being late there was no apologizes! The server just laughed about it! Our waitress disappeared after she took our order! The drinks where flat and we where told later the issue was fixed. When they came out the second time they where still flat. Our group didn't want bring it to there attention again. The fish tacos we ordered had no coleslaw just a little red cabbage on the bottom of the taco shell! I left a $3 tip! By the attitude of our server she did not appreciate the amount! We tip for good service and efficient service! What I experienced today was none of that! I shouldn't have tipped at all! To bad! It's a lovely restaurant located in a beautiful town!! Management needs to get there act together!!

Disappointed! Puzzled!
Long wait, mediocre quality food.
The table next to us left without being served, couldn’t take any more.
After 45-minute wait, we got a tiny portion of appetizer, no cutlery. Very poor service. With all that wait, as we were leaving, we saw three staff members -a waitress and two cooks sitting outside having a smoke. That’s when customers were leaving without being served. Strange place.

We arrived at about 2:45pm and stood awkwardly at the door for about 5 minutes before being acknowledged and told to pick a seat. We sat down and waited about 15 minutes for our drink order and was served flat soda. Nobody checked on us for quite awhile.
Finally, we ordered a starter of seafood chowder, and two entrees - one burger and fries and two piece fish and chips. It took about 1hr 15-20 mins for our food to arrive and the starter came out after our entrees.
The burger was delicious and the fries were good. The seafood chowder wasn't bad, but the bun they served with it felt old. The fish was underseasoned and a bit soggy.
Overall, the service was little to none and the wait was beyond what we expected for the level of business. Multiple tables were heard complaining about the wait and one table actually walked out.
This place has great potential, but wouldn't recommend.

Visiting from Toronto, stopped by as the menu looked promising. Upon arrival was informed the wait would be about thirty minutes, we had no concerns with the wait. Food took about an hour, with only a table of ten and six ahead of us. Food was very lacklustre, both sandwiches were dry, wrong soup was sent out but kept it because of the long wait time, veggies in the turkey soup were still crunchy; chowder was delicious. Our server was new but the senior server seemed very unbothered when feedback was provided. As an added note, saw about five or more tables walk out when they were informed of the long wait time. Restaurant has great potential but if we lived in the area we would never go back.
Update August 25/24. Given the owners review response advising us not to come back and to go to McDonalds, I now understand why the restaurant is struggling - as mentioned in the reviews.

Our TV is constantly inundated with advertisements for this establishment. While staying in Brigus we decided to check it out. I'll cut to the chase. We ordered pan fried cod with seafood chowder as an app. The seafood chowder looked like a gelatinous mess with tiny bits of seafood and almost tasteless. Our meals consisted of 2 rectangular, frozen cod that was served lukewarm over a bed of tasteless mashed potato, also luckwarm.
The dinner roll before the meal was dry and cold and butter was frozen.
Meal was supposed to come with a "vegetable medly" but came with zero vegetables. If plate appeal and taste is your thing then simply avoid. If you want a cool spot to have a beer and a view this place is great.
Note: when I brought our "meals" to the attention of the manager he actually yelled out to the kitchen and said "Hey ????? they didn't like your cooking" My wife and I were embarrassed.
We will not return or recommend this establishment to anyone.

I don't want to relive the terrible experience by writing it all down. Just fill in the worst vegetarian horror stories and you'll have an idea. Supplemented by them just really not caring about service or customer experience. Would be a great location for some other business.

Lovely outlook but the worst food we had in 10 days in Newfoundland! The chowder was glutinous with very little seafood, the bread rolls were dry and stale, the shepherds pie was watery and lacking in taste and the fish and chips were heavily battered.
The servers were pleasant but service was very slow with guests arriving after us being served before us. We didn’t ask for the bill to be discounted because the food was so poor but we weren’t even offered that option. Speaking to locals afterwards they had had the same poor experience.

Restaurantji Recommends
We waited 1.5 hours to get our food. We were offered nothing other than drinks while we waited. We had to ask for dinner rolls after an hour. The food was nothing special. I would not recommend eating there.

Food was barely warm. Food was not as described on the menu. The cheapest cutlery I have ever used . Coleslaw and beans served in throw away plastic cups. Nice view that's it

Besides the atmosphere and the view in my opinion, you're better off going in there taking pictures with a view that it has and leave. Unfortunately the place is not doing well and getting a bad name for itself three people apparently left two days before the Blueberry Festival. This puts strain on the staff that was there. We were 55 minutes waiting for food and we had to leave and actually get fed down the road to another restaurant. And it wasn't just us just to be clear.
It is unfortunate that it had to come to this I don't know what the owners or managers are doing but this is not what it used to be.
I would not recommend this anytime soon.

The service was beyond terrible: 30 minutes from being seated to any acknowledgment from the waitress who was masterful at avoiding all eye contact. Another 15 minutes to place our order. 35 minutes later we got our drink order- my companion went to the bar counter to see if she could pour the beer her herself. So, after 75 minutes, we had our beverage. Another 40 minutes to get our order- one hamburger with a side salad! The food was passable though nothing special. The location is nice - cute small town. The restaurant has a lovely view and is pleasantly decorated.

Went with 3 friends on Thursday, August 8th arriving at 12:30pm....only 30 minutes after opening. We were seated right away, but had to wait about 20 minutes before our order was taken. We asked after 30 minutes of our order being taken when our order would be ready and was told that they were extremely busy, small kitchen and very hot out so they did not know.
We watched several tables that were seated after us get their food, so when we asked again, we were told ours was next. After waiting another 20 minutes, we got up to leave. On the way out I stopped at the counter and told the server that after wasting 1.5 hours of our day we were not paying for our beverages. She said, "goodbye". I asked her if this is how she treats all of her customers, she said no and that it wasn't her problem that we didn't get our meal. I asked her who's problem it was, she said apparently yours. I asked her for the owner/operators name and number and she refused to give it to me.
I told her I'd be sure to give them a "rave review".
I will never stop there to eat, EVER! I'll never bring friends to eat there again, it was such an embarrassment, being from NL and wanting to showcase the NL hospitality.....The Riseover certainly lacks that BIG TIME!
I did send a Facebook message to the restaurant but no response and I'm not letting it go, so here I am!
So incredibly disappointing!
