Oldest Chinese restaurant in Gander. Food was good and priced reasonably. Ask Leo about what happened on September 11, 2001 and he will delight you with the true story about how the whole town came together to help the stranded air passengers from all over the world.

We were visiting Gander en route to Fogo and decided to get some take out for supper. We ordered the Dinner for 2B.
The good: This is a TON of food - enough to feed 6 people easily. The service was reasonably fast and good, and the price was decent for the amount of food. The cashew chicken had a lot of cashews and broccoli and wasn’t too heavily sauced. The decor was nice.
The bad: Everything that was deep fried had a very off-putting flavour, as if the oil had gone rancid. We couldn’t eat the Cantonese ribs, the wontons, or the spring rolls. The things that weren’t deep fried were ok, but really had very little flavour. We had to add salt to everything.
We still ended up with plenty to eat, as the portions were so huge, but we’d much prefer quality over quantity.

Stopped in Gander for the night, and had an excellent meal at East Ocean. Tasty, interesting food, large portions and reasonably priced. The service was friendly, too. Highly recommended!

Really not impressed. For the price I did get a one portion meal but the value seemed expensive for what I got. It was $17.00 with tax. For 12.99 in St. John’s I used to get the same meal but it was so full of flavour. My beef with broccoli has no sauce- well most of it was on the bottom- not poured over which I understand - not wanting to get anything else all saucy- but it did appear to be just onion so it was literally beef with broccoli and a whole lot of broccoli. Which I didn’t mind because I was craving the vitamin C but still…
I always share with my dog and so not much to share. The fired egg roll upset my stomach- but perhaps it’s the fried dough.
I got 3 chicken balls. All I am saying is portions for price seemed small- Had I known I would have ordered another meal or more chicken balls. It was just very plain is all. I’ll have to try the other ones in the city to compare but I wasn’t super impressed. Chicken fried rice was good.

Stopped in on our way through, a bit disappointed there isn’t a buffet anymore but we were very happy with what we got. Pineapple Chicken and Szechuan Chicken. Both fantastic, huge amount of meat and variety of veggies, not over salty or over sweet like most restaurants these days.

A lovely restaurant, and I was very happy to see they did vegetarian dishes. The staff member who served us was also really friendly, and chatted to us about our trip and gave us recommendations.

In Gander for work and had the Cantonese chow mein for take out. Absolutely delicious, huge portion and all seafood, meat and veg were perfectly cooked. I rarely get blown away by chinese food in Newfoundland and this was so good!

Westernized Chinese food, Westernized Chinese, English was communicated throughout, the lowest quality disposable chopsticks were provided, the taste of the dishes was mediocre, the hot and sour soup was not complimentary, the one I wanted to complain about was the white rice, there were no prices on the menu, and finally The checkout fee is $3.99 for a small bowl (two or three bites per bowl). I was just moved by the story of the 911 incident in Gander, but I was left speechless by this bowl of rice.
