Quaint little place. Not far from the TC highway. Well worth stopping in for a bite to eat. Banquet burger was excellent. Great service.

We made a reservation for 6 people (3 couples) to celebrate a wedding anniversary while we were in the Gambo area. We were seated next to the air conditioner - one person’s head was less than 10 inches from the air conditioner which was at face level and was on high. The only thing they could offer to help was to turn the fins up so that the air didn’t hit her right in the side of the face. One of the members of our party was a senior with hearing aids. He couldn’t hear anything above the fan and was quite limited in being able to participate in any conversation. We asked to move to another table as there was an empty booth in the back and we could have squeezed in. After telling us we could move, they came back to say the booth was “reserved” and we couldn’t sit there. Three people came in to sit in the “reserved’ booth - not sure how they reserved a specific place to sit. The food was pretty good - though quite salty. What was meant to be a nice anniversary meal was not a very pleasant experience. Everything we asked for seemed to be a problem. The highlight was that 5 people wanted pudding with carmel sauce. The server said they were running low on caramel sauce and I said that was fine because I wanted mine without sauce. One member of our party suggested the server just bring what they had and we could share it among the other 4 puddings. She said she could not do that. So one of our party that wanted pudding with caramel sauce ordered cheesecake instead. Low and behold, my pudding showed up floating in caramel sauce. I asked for another piece with no sauce and the person who couldn’t get the pudding with the sauce (and ordered the cheesecake) asked if she could have the pudding with the sauce. The server didn’t look very pleased with passing that to her and cancelling the order for the cheesecake. The server was very unaccommodating. We wouldn’t go there again. Suggestions for the owner: (1) if you are out of specials that are posted on the chalkboard, have staff put a line through those items or erase them, (2) if there is a disabled senior who needs an accommodation, please don’t be so dismissive, (3) remove the moth balls (or whatever smells like mothballs) from the building and (4) don’t sit a person in that spot with the air conditioner blowing directly on the side of their face.

Went out of town for the long weekend and found myself at Gill’s Grill. This restaurant had already come highly recommended to me. Gill’s genuinely lived up to what I’ve heard. The staff was extremely friendly, polite and they gave the best service. The food was fast, hot and delicious. I had the stuffed chicken breast dinner, with fries and veg. Most places either give you way too much for or very little food. Gills gave me the perfect amount! I was completely satisfied after the meal but couldn’t resist the homemade carrot cake. The carrot cake was so soft and delicious, we asked if we could buy a whole cake! You can by the way, and we did. Gills is a part of my clean plate club! I definitely will be visiting again. 10/10

Short shot off the highway. Great food, great prices, great staff. Found this spot by accident a few years back and looked for it on our most recent trip back to Newfoundland. They did not disappoint.

Gill's Grill is a wonderful spot in Gambo. We were quickly seated and our order was taken. Everything arrived hot and fresh without too much wait. We had the Moose Eggrolls to start and they were delicous! Our dinner was cod tongues and cod au gratin. Now I have to confess, I'm a mainlander and this was my first time trying cod tongues. I loved the flavour but couldn't quite get past the texture. My husband was kind and shared his delicious au gratin with me. the potatoes and veg with both meals were yummy. Don't pass on dessert - the blueberry grunt with caramel sauce is delish and suprisingly not too sweet!

Was told that the kitchen closes at 6:30 when they advertise as being open till 7:pm. Why advertise, if you don't plan on delivering.

We had the hamburger platter (this also comes with fried onions, lettuce and tomato),club sandwich with Wedges and onion rings. We both liked the home fries over the wedges. Very fast and friendly service. Definitely be back!
