Ate but didn’t stay here. Had the cod and chips, which was good! Chicken Alfredo which was amazing. Chicken fillet burger was good, beef dip I would not recommend, the meat was tough. Sticky toffee pudding was good! Unlike others I’ve had, almost molasses/rum taste.
One of the better restaurants I’ve been outside of St. John’s
Went there tonight for a meal and left thoroughly disappointed. It was a Friday, and we were expecting somewhat of a wait. No one was expecting a 90 minute wait for food. That’s an indicator of either understaffing or over-capacity and is downright disrespectful to customers. When the food did come, it was good, but quite pricey. Although the staff were friendly and quite apologetic, it seems that we won’t be back, and that’s a shame.
The food was amazing and the location is second to none! We were in King's Point, visiting my husband's Aunt Katie (Kit as you all know her 😉) And we ordered food a couple of times! The chowder was to die for!
Hot and delicious. The chowder was ok and the home made roll was tasty. My friend enjoyed the turkey, dressing, cheese, fries and gravy. Everybody like the hime made fries. The spinach dip was hot with loads of nachos chips. We sat on the patio which overlooks the beautiful bay. No whales that day and apparently they do come in that far to see them from the restaurant. Make a reservation as it gets quite busy.
We enjoyed the chowder, salt and pepper ribs and the quesadillas here. The service was outstanding. We tried to book a room as well. They had no availability but Debbie went above and beyond I helping us to find a local place.
This place is a must to eat and to watch humpback whales frolicking by. We didn’t see the whales as they have not been active for the past week. However, others raved about it.
On my 12 day drive around Newfoundland
This place went out there way to make my stay as comfortable as possible
I arrive after they closed
They waited
Restaurant was closed
They stayed open and I had the best pea soup I ever had 5 star. ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️
Not to mention the waiter said we see whales in here as well
3 seconds later sure enough I watched the whale will I enjoyed my pea soup 🍜
If your looking for great service and Newfoundland hospitality
Look no farther
One more think 🤔
I was leaving at 6 am
And breakfast was not till 9 am
Once again they went out of their way and made it to go
If your coming to NFLD
Make this a stop 🛑
Thanks 🙏 again Colin
Visited the café with family members. I've been here before and its always been a great experience. Today, our food took a long time after we ordered, the deep fried fries, and onion rings were overcooked, and very greasy. There was a pool of oil in our onion rings and except for a couple rings on the top, they were inedible. We mentioned this at the cash, but no discount was offered. Also of mention, no server returned to our table to check to see if we needed anything, and no one came with our bill. We went to the cash and even then no one came to serve us so we could pay until we spoke up and asked if someone could please serve us. Just wanted to let you know. Things cannot be fixed if management is unaware. We will probably return, but if this service continues we won't be able to recommend it to family and friends.
We went here for lunch. Had seafood chowder and a fresh home-made bun. Delicious! Good location at the seaside. Good staff.
We read great things about the food . We drove there from Grand Falls-Windsor for supper on a Tuesday. It wasn't very busy. But the fried chicken dinner that she ordered was left over from the day before. You can tell what leftover fried chicken tastes like. Very Disappointing.
Always good food and friendly service.

Great location and even better staff!!
I've been here a few times over the years (whenever I'm home for a visit). This cafe is always a highlight of my trip home to central Newfoundland.
The food is always fresh and cooked well. The location is unbelievable! Located in quant Kingspoint, NL, right along the bay. You can eat indoors or out on the patio. Enjoy the beautiful waterfront and maybe see a whale or two! It's stunning!
The only reason I'm giving service a 4 this time is because there was a mix up of our families reservation. They did seem to be under staffed, as food took a long time to get out.
Normally everything is quick and fresh. **However this time we were with an elderly family member who found sitting waiting for an hour for supper uncomfortable. Due to the short staff, we also didn't get water refills, extra napkins etc. When food arrived, it didn't come out at the same time. Some people were basically done with dinner before others even had theirs. It was also a Saturday evening, during August, so still during a prime tourist evening.
However, I am mentioning all this as this is a busy restaurant. And I'd hate for anyone to blow this restaurant off due to slow food, because when we did get dinner, it was phenomenal!!
Walkability: There are cute local marker shops near by, a whale heritage site not far from it. Great location to learn about local culture.
Food and drinks: By The Sea Cafe has a wide variety of food, full service drinks, wines, etc.
