The best food and services so far! I can only recommend it! And at the entrance I had to buy some nice glass decorations.

Sugar Hill Inn has spacious, seemingly new rooms. The staff are all warm and kind. The food at Chanterelles (restaurant) is exceptional. We had the cod and the seafood linguini. The sweet potato and apple soup was fabulous! We ate at Chanterelles both nights. They were the best meals we had in Newfoundland. The bed in room 1 was somewhat soft, the only negative. The beds in room 8 were firm. No back pain in the morning. VERY highly recommended!

Excellent service and food.

We made a reservation for an early dinner at 5:30 pm and we were the first guests for the evening.
They served us an amuse bouche which pleasantly surprised all of us.

The seafood plates were all very good, fresh and flavourful.

The interiors were that of a historic house turned restaurant. It is part of an inn but we didn’t stay there so I can’t comment on the rooms.

There were quite a few paintings and art on the walls which made the restaurant even more interesting. It felt like we were dining in an art gallery. Lovely!

Delicious, fresh food and excellent service. Our favourite special occasion spot in the area! Delicious cocktails as well. Don't miss it.

Chanterelles restaurant is sooooo excellent! Chef Danny is amazing - you have to come here in the summer to make sure you can eat the food from his kitchen. Everything we had on the menu was a hit - including the oysters, mussels, fishcakes, veggie pineapple curry, and cod (remarked as “best cod i’ve ever had!)”). We also had the bread basket with the butter (chives and red pepper we think?) - each piece was amazing and we even ate the leftover crumbs. alcohol selection was pristine and we’re finishing off with a maple balsamic creme brulee!

We stayed in the Inn and had dinner at the restaurant. We had an amazing stay and the food is fabulous! As guests, we also had complimentary breakfast. I liked the way it is organized- pick the time and your meal the day before. Very efficient. The people are also really nice and the service is wonderful. Christine is such a sweet person. The location is also great in terms of proximity of things to do in Gros Morne. I would stay here again if I ever return to NL.

Exploring the culinary scene in Gros Morne, we were thrilled to discover Chanterelle, a rare gem in the region. The service was impeccable, and the food was excellent, highlighting the best of local ingredients. Due to its limited capacity, I highly recommend making a reservation in advance to ensure you can enjoy this delightful dining experience.

Pulled up and seen sign for restaurant was open. Went to front door but locked. Lady opens door and says restaurant not open to public. She was short and looked miserable. She needs training in customer service. Maybe a smile might crack her.

Tried to eat at the restaurant. The front desk person was extremely rude. We were traveling and dressed for comfort. We were told there was a wait, we inquired if there were any other restaurants near by. She literally looked down her nose at us, which took some talent as she was sitting and we were standing. It was also very brief eye contact as we were apparently not worthy to be stepping foot in the establishment. She told us their restaurant and the other one in town were both "fine dining " and suggested the local pub would be better for us.
Definitely the worst person I met in my 9 day, first stay in Newfoundland

We came to the restaurant but we're staying elsewhere. The restaurant is a 5-star must go to place in Norris Point. The mussels were perfectly tender in a lovely tarragon wine broth. The special soup of the day was a out of this world mushroom and the pasta special with shrimp, salmon and capicola was devine

Will try to go back again in the next days we are here

Chanterelles is a five star restaurant above a lovely looking inn. A nice view of the mountains and trees. Service was prompt and efficient. The cod was delicious and the Cajun coconut vegetarian option was outstanding. I’ve never had such good tofu! The lemon cheesecake with partridge berry topping was fabulous. Highly recommend a visit.

Delicious food and amazing attention to detail and care for guests. I am vegetarian and asked if I could have the charcuterie board to start but just without the meat, as I fancied some cheese. Instead, the chef made a tailored cheese board for me. They had one vegetarian main and it was delicious. My partner had the duck with chanterelle risotto and is still talking about it - I tried a bite of the risotto and it was out of this world. In addition, we wanted to splash out on a fancier wine than we'd usually get. The somellier came over and was so knowledgeable and kind, giving us great suggestions for people eating two very different meals! If we lived on the west coast we would definitely be back regularly.
