Amazing chocolate chip biscuits. Soft and moist but still pleasantly crumbly. We’d love to go back to try the cheese biscuits too. The chocolate chip biscuits came up in conversation multiple times as we tried bakeries across Newfoundland, with these being the best biscuits we had during our whole trip. It may be a small place, but worth stopping in.

Great little cafe and grocery store for a stop while driving. All day breakfast at a great price and served with a smile.

Cycle touring along the Viking Trail June. Stopped in here for lunch on a locals recommendation. Turkey soup and sandwich was amazing.

Lovely little cottages. We had two bedrooms, bathroom, fully equipped kitchen and living room. Had breakfast at the cafe - nothing beats a home cooked meal - and a few drinks at the local club. Friendly people with helpful advice. True Newfoundland hospitality.
Good service
We stopped hoping to have a light lunch. The club sandwich was ok, but the turkey sandwich was about 1/2 cup or more of mayo on homemade bread with a couple of small strips of turkey. I scraped off most of the mayo, put what Turkey we could find on one quarter. The other 3/4 of sandwich with the pile of mayo was left on the plate. The server didn’t even care to ask if things were ok.
Sunrise Bakery & Cafe is more like a convenience store with a small dining room on the side than an actual bakery or restaurant. My family and I ate here for lunch and were, for the most part, unimpressed with the service and food. My brother's crispy chicken sandwich was missing the lettuce. I ordered the half chef salad, which turned out to be a small mound of lettuce, and a few pieces of tomato, ham and turkey covered with a ton of shredded cheese. My father, on the other hand, said that his omelette was good and that his toast was made with freshly baked bread. The person who took our orders was unfriendly, the prices were moderate, and we waited about 45 minutes for our food, even though we were the only customers in the dining room.
One of deep fryers were down so not all food options were available. Food we had was awesome.

Keep driving…
We stayed at the cottages. They were so clean and modern with exceptional sleeping accommodations. Having the restaurant and convenience store in sight was such a great addition.
Great food! Like really really good food! The beef soup was superior. The chef/ server was so kind. Would eat here again!
Best BLT in ages and lovely people!
We drove quite a way to reach this well reputed bakery and cafe. Like many of the businesses in Newfoundland this is more than a bakery and cafe. It is a diner and convenient store. It may also rent cabins for the night. A woman brewed us a fresh pot, which was very kind of her. We picked up a raspberry pie and More Bars. Both were tasty.
