Decided to take a 3 hour drive here as the menu looked good and we had never been here before. I had ordered the sautéed shrimp dinner. Presentation should always be #1. For $20.99 I expected it to be better than it was. My three complaints were: the carrots which were the vegetable of the day were mush. I would not serve that to anyone. My dinner was to come with a dinner roll and a tea or coffee. After my meal was brought out by the other server which was an older lady, I asked about the dinner roll. She snapped back and said well if you really want it I can get it. Of course I want it. It’s included in my meal and I paid for it. It should have been brought out with my meal. I should not have to ask for it and feel belittled by asking for it. Nobody mentioned tea or coffee, and the menu said it was included. When I ordered dessert, I was waiting for my server to say tea or coffee is included. But she never. As she was walking away, I said I would like a tea please. The young server which served us was wonderful! She was very friendly, polite and attentive. I did notice the place was not as clean as other places that I had been at. When we arrived at 4:30 there was only one other table there. After lunch was finished, the floor that had food under the tables and salt spilt on the tables should have been cleaned. It’s definitely not the cleanest place. I won’t go back. If the menu states what’s included either ask the customer if they want it or bring it out. I paid for it! But I definitely was not impressed with the food or restaurant. And it was not busy so no excuse for bad food or service.

We stayed at one of the cabins at the Sea Echo so we ate most of our Breakfast at this restaurant. The service was so friendly and inviting. April was our waitress most mornings and she is one of a kind. Very friendly and helpful. The food is great and good size portions. The view is amazing. Don’t feel rushed and very relaxed atmosphere! If you are in the area definitely give it a try.

Caveat Emptor...let the buyer bewareVery disappointing. Without a doubt, the worst meal we have ever been served in our now 3 visits to Newfoundland. There have been very few others sub-par.The food was overcooked & served lukewarm. The restaurant was not busy.Bones throughout my sweetie's fish cake & it was the best thing in her Dorset Basket. A side of gravy ordered was not presented & when trying to rectify, attempted to search out someone, not a soul to be found (even knocked on kitchen(?) door. When someone finally appeared, I got their attention only to be provided with a lukewarm small gravy boat. The assortment of Newfoundland favourites in my Maritime Archaic Platter, ordered pan fried, much of which appeared frozen Captain High.... stuff. The salmon was the only decent item on the plate. My meal called for "All above are served with choice of potato, rice, vegetable, or pasta, roll and tea or coffee."Not asked for selections, no roll provided. Not asked about tea/coffee.And in this day & age, not accessible.A young lady (customer) seeing our attempting to navigate the entrance door on the small landing with sweetie's walker, jumped to our assistance to hold the door open. Best part of the visit.

Food was good and served piping hot. Service was friendly and very good. We thought the pizza and beer were a bit pricey but my sandwich and soup were very reasonable. That being said, an overall good experience.

I must have made a great impression as a d*** tourist. Some friends and I were driving from Deer Lake to L'anse aux Meadows and we stopped on the way to get lunch. Because the restaurant hosts the pizza place, we got an eclectic assortment of sandwiches, fish and pizza. The young woman that was working the cash and taking orders greeted everyone coming in during the lunch hour by name while the four of us were eating our own random buffet. The food was good, prices were good and the drive into the town was very picturesque. I hope I will be able to return one day.

Cod and tongues plate. Very good. Kind service.

Fish chowder was good, pea soup was not great. Peas still hard, more carrots and potatoes than anything else, each soup came with a roll that had been severely heated in a microwave, too hot and rubbery. So due to a wildly rainy evening we gave this place a second chance, ordered steamed mussels. They arrived well after the accompanying onion rings and my partners meal, cold, and that was it....steamed, no broth of any kind, just a pool of cold water and nuked butter on the side. Theymwere returned to server, took quite some time for a replacement. These were hot, one third empty shells.Overall 2 stars is generous.

Customer service was lacking. Young girl missed the order and told us we needed to ask for items (that were in the meal ordered) to be given. Not friendly at all and appeared to be working against her will. Would rate 0 stars if possible.

People were nice. Food was reasonable. Prices were a little high, but within reason.

What a lovely restaurant in Port au Choix! We had a delicious fish chowder lunch there after visiting the historic site. It was a cold windy day and the soup was warming and satisfying. The young man and woman who served us might have been new to the job but provided excellent friendly service. The lighthouse motif in the restaurant makes this a sweet spot to stop.
