I can't believe there are so few reviews of this place! it is AN EXPERIENCE!! The food is fantastic and the menu is huge. I've lived in the area for about 8 years and been visiting for longer, the food form this excellent restaurant is consistently fulfilling, satisfying, fresh and has generous servings for reasonable prices. The take out service is fabulous and it's a miracle they keep up with the demand. Eating in is a different experience but interesting none the less. I get the impression that nothing has changed at all since the late 80s or 90s as far as decor, lighting and equipment. The tables and chairs are likely much older than that. The thing is, it's all clean and in good repair so I have to agree that there is no need to replace it, it's just very dated so that sets the atmosphere when you first walk in. The lighting is dim as well and sometimes there is no music or sound at all. All of that is a bit off putting and yet, when there is a crowd in the restaurant eating, it is a really nice experience. People talk to each other and about the excellent food and good service. As far as good food, this is it, try everything on the menu, it's all good. The dine-in atmosphere could definitely use the touch of a designer and historian. Putting effort into telling the story of this unique restaurant in this unique area of The Rock would be interesting to locals and to visitors. Overall, 10/10 food and value. Food excluded, The Dine-In experience gets a 5/10 only because of this odd, half-open kind of feeling when sitting in there to eat. This community loves this restaurant and it wouldn't be the same without it!!

Food and Service Sucked. It was the Worst Chinese Food I ever had in my life. I would starve before I would ever go there to eat again.

My traveling companion was a little wary of Chinese food in a rural, small town but being vegetarian knew we could get plenty of veggies here (after a week of delicious hamburgers and fish and chips). We ended up having a delicious and fresh meal that really made for a nice change of pace in our trip's cuisine. They were able to do a plate of broccoli and veggies which was expertly flavored, and each of our mains (a chicken dish for me, and a shrimp chow mien for my friend) were perfectly cooked and impressed us both. An excellent restaurant and bit of variety for any part of the world!

Food was good. I'm used to a little different service (unloving). Something urgently needs to be done about the atmosphere.

My husband and I have been vacationing in Newfoundland during July for many years. We were so happy to be able to return after the Covid closures. We live halfway between NYC and Philadelphia and we have a lot of good Chinese restaurants at home. This restaurant ranks with them. The wait staff was friendly and service was quick. Before we knew it we were chowing down on our food. Vegetable Egg Foo Yong for me and Pork Fried Rice for my husband. The portions were big so we didn't come away hungry! Thank you for a good meal.

We ordered their Cantonese chow main and beef and broccoli dishes. Very good food. Recommend giving them a try.

We grabbed some takeout from this place on a very windy, cold and rainy day in St Anthony and took it back to our hotel. We had an order of the BBQ Pork with vegetables and a Beef Noodle dish as well as 2 spring rolls. Everything was excellent. Our server was very helpful, when we asked for chow mein, she explained that it was with cabbage and not noodles. We didn't want that so she led us to the Beef Noodle dish. She also provided us with paper plates, cutlery and napkins since we were in a hotel. Service was very good and fast, food was hot. Prices were decent. Glad we ate here and we'd go here again.

Authentic food in a surreal setting for visitors and amazing, reliable food for locals. Always fresh and filling, excellent taste, service, price. One of two original “Chinese Food” restaurants in St. Anthony since the 60s.
