Nice seafood in a picturesque seaside town - perfect. Fresh and delicious seafood in a picturesque seaside town - perfect!
Not sure what all the hype is about for this place? Overall bad experience. We were there Late August 2024.
Service:
We waited at the door for over 5 minutes until someone finally came and asked how many. When I said a table for 4, she seemed annoyed and say "for four??". Is that not a normal number of people? She then told us to keep waiting as she went to go set up the table. To our disappointment, the table was right (2m away) beside the toilets, the doors were open and we can see the urinal. We can see slightly bigger tables that are empty so we asked to switch, they said no. We then asked again and finally reluctantly they allowed us to sit outside on the balcony. When they came with the food, she opened the door and hit my brother, she said "I knew that was going to happen" and did not apologize.
Food:
Seems pretty fresh, however not much flavour. We ordered 4 mains and 1 appetizer, it could have been eaten by 1 person. The scallops dish was FOUR tiny pieces on a bed of lettuce, it costed over 20 dollars... We finished the food within 10 minutes and was still hungry. Total bill came out to be $120.
This was the first local newfoundland restaurant we went to, ruined our mood and didnt try any more of the local places because of it.

Wonderful family run restaurant, in a beautiful location/ views. We love the restaurant’s origin story! We stopped in after a hike in Gros Morne national park. Service was friendly and attentive. We had the cod burger and famous fish cakes.

The service at this restaurant was impatient and unhelpful, with one particular server being exceptionally difficult. The food was okay at best, with the atmosphere being unwelcoming in all aspects.
Moreover, the prices for the food is crazy compared to the portions that are given. Scallops are <20 dollars for 4 little pieces over a 50 cent bed of lettuce, with dishes such as the clam chowder being placed in a miniature ramekin made for a small child. We ordered 120 dollars worth of food, with everybody in the group leaving hungry.
Overall, the experience and the food left all of us with a 1 star experience.

Best restaurant we ate at from Trout River to Rocky Harbor or Deer Lake. On the ocean- beautiful sunset. Very excellent service- very fresh fish have the mussels! And anything else all was great. Viola was our server for 3 meals! She shared local information and added to our experience.

My husband and I ate here twice during our recent visit to Trout River and both times were fantastic! Good food, good service, and you cannot beat the sunset view from this restaurant. Highly recommend if you're in the area.
Generational family restaurant with good old recipe. The waitress was on point And very helpful.

For both nights we were in Trout River we dined here and both nights the food/service were fantastic. Not only was Gloria a great waitperson she gave us the most amazing recommendation to try the BonBay boat tour and it did not disappoint.
Thanks for making our stay that much more enjoyable

Our server was very nice, knowledgeable and explained anything we had questions about. As a group of 3 we were sharing some mains and eating appetizers as our mains, and everything came out as we asked. They were out of calamari and made an adjustment before the food came as well. The view is incredible and the building seals the deal. The food was all delicious and tasted fresh.
