I love ABQ airport. It’s small but has plenty of flights in and out all over the country and even to the islands. It is a hub for Southwest Airlines so the flights are reasonable. The only issue is with drop off. They won’t let you sit for more than a minute before they are harassing you. The airport could be empty and they are still pushing you to move. So say your goodbyes before you leave the house.
I can honestly say this is one of my favorite smaller airports I’ve been to. Very easy to navigate, clean, and all of the local touches keeps you occupied while waiting for a flight. There are more than enough restaurants and gift shops for the size with many of the dining options offering great meals. (So much so that I typically buy something to bring home from there). The observation deck is also a great feature and really makes for an enjoyable experience pre flight.
We came from Tampa airport which is one of the best in the country to Albuquerque and I would say that Abq might be a little better. The airport is easy to navigate with great signage. They have beautiful decor and fantastic food. And except for the rental car service, the staff here is always friendly and on point. Traveling domestic or international this is always one of my favorite stops.
Never had a problem at this airport before until tonight. You guys have extremely rude securitas security guards there at the arrivals. While other vehicles were parked, they wouldn't even let me park for 1 minute to wait for my friend, I had to drive all the way around and pull up again twice. The short older woman was the most vicious, even started taking my license plate number down..meanwhile my friend witnessed a truck parked for several minutes and never got approached. It was pretty empty too, so this treatment was simply not necessary.
Smaller airport with easily walkable terminals and security has rarely been a problem. Be aware when picking people up that you won't be given much time to wait in the lane. Schedule appropriately or be ready to make the loop.
Rental car shuttle doesn’t start until approx 5:25am. 40+ people in line this morning waiting for shuttle. It was cold waiting out there. Frustrating that they can’t get these shuttles operating earlier as there are people that need to get to their flights. Also - Rental car agencies are very slow getting customer their cars. Budget Avis and Enterprise have long lines and take forever to get you processed.
We stopped here for ice cream and waiting 15min for service, with 3 employees in the building, by the time someone helped us there was a line of 6 people behind us. During the time we were there the male employee used the bathroom and went back into the kitchen. He proceeded to lay around on the counter with his shoes up, he move from his side to his back multiple times. It was probably a good 10min before he got off and walked out of the kitchen. It was disgusting and pathetic especially for a locally owned business.
Kylissha was the most entertaining and fun taking our ice cream order. 100% highly recommend this location
DO NOT GO HERE I stopped here for some hash browns a coffee and donut. Hash browns are terribly burnt and don't taste like hash browns, donut was really old and coffee was decent, I ordered a carmel cappuccino and it tastes like pumpkin! Terrible service and waited forever
3rd time going and there closing early I asked the guy why it says open till 10 on the door and online and open sigh is on but he just shook his head No. giving up on this place I'll get ice-cream for my office somewhere else

I went to get a medium cookies and cream milkshake and this is how empty it was when I got it. I was too scared to speak up in the store but I just think this is really unacceptable. I paid for a medium, which was a dollar extra, and I practically got a small. I won’t be going back this this store or the man that made this drink.
Very clean. Nice facility. Soft live stringed music was played they day we arrived. Beautiful clock hangs in the main entry area. **Note -Arrive early TSA backs up. (Not the fault of TSA. They tell everyone the rules yet people don't listen. *Empty pockets *All items go in the tote *Yes wheeled carry-on goes in the tote *Driver License or ID must be out *Oddly eye glasses must be off *Shoes off * If everything fits in one tote, do it) Full body scanner.
If you have time, check out the view from the observation area on the upper level. They did a good job of keeping everything clean and those doing the cleaning where friendly and helpful to answer questions about places to eat, etc.
This is a small airport packed with things to do and places to grab what you need to have a successful trip. It's kid, nursing mother, and pet friendly with spaces dedicated to each category. There is ample seating and even tables with long outlet strips for your charging and working needs. It's clean and full of house plants, though some are thriving better than others. Uber and lift are a bit hard to come by so plan ahead for your ride to the airport with extra time to get there.
Great airport. Easy to navigate. Great restaurant in the center inside the gates as well as just outside security. It is however the airport where I have had the most flights canceled or delayed. Ow well. Order the margarita and relax. Or hit the 377 Brewery if you have to stay overnight. #landofenchantment
