Waste of 50$. The server made me ask for sparkling water 5 times before I got it. The water wasn’t even cold and the margaritas were disgustingly sweet. When I asked for my steak I got a piece of charcoal instead. When I sent it back the chef kicked me out. What an absolute disgrace of a restaurant. I just wanted to enjoy the jazz band. But the chef clearly has no clue how to cook. Calling him a chef is an insult to actual chefs. 0 talent or skill to speak of. The only people who like his food are old people with no taste. The guys ego is so big he refuses to take feedback or criticism. I wish he was better but I’m not sure if the guy is blind, or has no taste buds either. Disgusting behavior. Disappointed with everything. Never coming back here again and encouraging everyone to avoid this place like the plague. Because his food is the plague.

Great locally owned
Ben cooked for us then broke out the jams for everyone.
A fabulous evening for dining with friends or alone. You're never alone at Ben Michaels!
Artistic venue with amazing food, especially the flan. Just be prepared, it’s cash only. Ben is the chef/owner/musician and treated us like family.
Is Ben Michael OK??
Went there last night to sing at a jazz recital. Ben was SO incredibly rude to be and my 87 year old mom. I didn’t realize the event had been moved to a different venue and had to listen to Ben’s extremely condescending rant which had nothing to do with me.
I’ve been there for Jazz Jam night many times (by the way, the food sucks and is extremely overpriced). I will not be returning. This is not a good look, Ben.
First time going to this place. Menu is very simple and specials are changed daily. The owner is actually the chef and he is a sweet heart! It doesn't get too busy, so the owner has time to chat and get to know you.
Ben is super friendly and welcoming and cooks everything himself. I didn’t know it was cash only so the Bank of America ATM across the street saved me!
Restaurantji Recommends
We had their pork and chicken enchiladas. Both were excellent. Some Mexican restaurants try to overpower their food with heat, but this was both flavorful and nicely spiced. The margaritas are excellent.

I'm no doctor, but I think Ben could possibly be bipolar. Somedays, he's happy to see ya. Other days, not so much. I think it's part of the quirky appeal to this place.
Definitely, go there. You'll probably have a great time and a really good meal. One thing that I respect about Ben's place is that he supports live local music. He also plays a great piano himself and is very entertaining.
Definitely bring cash because your CC is worthless.
If Ben insults you, brush it off. It's a quirky place, and he's a quirky man. We don't call it Albaquirky for nothin.
