The Original Cocina Azul is a highly-rated Mexican restaurant that offers a delicious and flavorful dining experience. The green salsa is a standout, but the red sauce is very spicy. The combo plate is a great way to sample several menu items, such as the brisket taco, brisket enchilada, tamale, and relleno. The staff provides excellent service and contribute to a welcoming and friendly atmosphere. The restaurant is known for its authentic and culturally rich dishes, such as the carne adovada, which is said to taste exactly like grandma's cooking.

The service and vibe are excellent, and the Southwestern cuisine is scrumptious, with big portions and probably the best Southwestern Mexican food the customers have ever eaten. This is a very popular restaurant and rightly so. The restaurant caters to locals who know and appreciate New Mexican food, which is a distinct subset of Mexican food. The first thing customers notice in the parking lot is the lack of out-of-state plates, aside from the occasional Arizona plate. The green chili stew, made with Hatch chilis, is the best the customers have ever had, quite hot but also flavorful. The chili relleno, filled with beef and also made with Hatch chilis, is not as hot but still perfect with just a hint of heat. The Calabacitas, a sort of stew made with zucchini, yellow squash, and corn in a chicken broth, is a pleasant surprise, as is the fact that the side dishes are not an afterthought. The service is very pleasant and fast, with the server providing accurate spiciness reports on the chilis.
