We’ve been loyal customers for years, so we were really shocked by how we were treated tonight. My husband found a long blonde hair in his taco. None of us have that color or length of hair which obviously is why we said something. When we mentioned it, the manager immediately argued that no one in the kitchen is blonde and even said we could “come look in the kitchen” to prove it, which felt completely unnecessary. My husband wasn’t even trying to be a hassle since this is his favorite restaurant, he just didn’t want to eat the tacos and asked to have them removed from the check. We thought that was the end of it. Instead, they charged almost the same amount for chips and salsa since he supposedly didn't have a meal anymore. When we asked again the server said it was “out of her hands.” At that point he just asked to get the tacos to go since we were being charged regardless. I’ve seen other reviews mentioning the manager getting defensive, and now I completely understand why. It’s a shame because we loved this place, but this is probably the worst customer service I've received at a restaurant.
I’ve seen this place grow so many times and this time … they did there thing this time … Love the remodel big E…. Looks fabulous….., this is where it needed to go …. The next level … great visionary with this remodel….. proud of you keep doing your thing …. Valued customer for life
Best all around Mexican style food and menu around Norman and really the greater OKC area.
Wonderful mexican food. This is the second time we have been here. It is "off the beaten path." I had two chile rellenos with green chili. BEST green chili and Rellenos I have had in ages. Green chili to drive miles for! Very friendly staff. Lots of Hispanic families.
First visit for a lunch organized by a social group leader. Both food and service were outstanding. Pretty extensive menu with all the New Mexico favorites available. Our food was prepared without a lot of hot peppers or spices and served with choices of chiles and condiments so you could set your own level.
We sat down, the boy brought us our chips and drinks and told us he’d be right back. Ten minutes later no servers had even looked in our direction, so we left.
ABUELITA’s New Mexican Kitchen is a delicious dining experience in the South Valley. For starters, we ordered Chips and Salsa, Chile con Queso and the Guacamole Salad. Everything – the salsa, the cheese, the guacamole - was very tasty – even the chips were crispy and flavorful. For main dishes, I ordered the Beef Fajitas and my wife ordered the 3-Taco Plate – both meals were perfectly cooked – and the portions were big! We weren’t planning on dessert, but their “Yum Yum Cake” sounded intriguing – and it was indeed very Yum Yum! Service was excellent and prices extremely reasonable. The dining room exuded a strong ‘south western’ ambience. We’ll be back! Highly recommended.
(Translated by Google) The food is good. There is variety of food from burritos. Slight. Mexican-style egg cakes and much more(Original)Está buena la comida. Hay variedad de comida desde burritos. Menudo. Tortas huevos a la Mexicana y mucho mas
Abuelitas is a New Mexican restaurant well worth seeking out. The dining room is most welcoming and makes a very good first impression. The food is definitely legit New Mexican fare, and delivered at a good price. In particular, the carne adovada enchiladas were fantastic and the quality and flavorfulness of the New Mexico green chiles in the chile rellenos was top shelf. Even in a city with far too many excellent New Mexican options, this is one well worth a return trip.

Based on TA Reviews, we decided to visit Abuelita’s for dinner as we were staying on the south side of Albuquerque. It is a little bit of a drive, but it is well worth it. Service was friendly, efficient and helpful. Menu options were plentiful. There is patio dining, although it wasn’t available when we visited. The inside is very welcoming and comfortable. Both the Chips and Salsa tasted as if they had been made fresh that day. Food Service was quick and serving sizes were large. I enjoyed the Abuelita’s Tacopilla with Ground Beef added. It was more than I should have eaten, but the flavor was fantastic, from the first bite to the last, and I couldn’t help myself. The post-meal Sopapillas were fantastic. Price was good based on quality and quantity. It was a very enjoyable dining experience and I can’t wait to return to sample more of the menu. Abuelita’s is a must when in Albuquerque.
