I wrote a review months ago but for some reason it was removed. I'm rewriting it againI was disappointed with the cheese steak. The meat is basically a bit frozen steak-umm with lots of sauce ? and some cheese. Hopefully nextime around I won't have the same experience.

Owner needs to create a Mission, Vision, & Values. By not having values, you allow white supremacists/criminals/hate groups to set those for you. If you allow armed, ragtag wannabe vigilantes use your business as their downtown headquarters to counter-protest black people and Natives, Yelp cannot help you.If you want to succeed, figure out who you are as a business (mission), where you're going (vision), and what your values are. Then, train your employees and hold them accountable. If you want to cry to the local media that you are a victim, Yelp cannot help you. Victims attract victimize-rs, which in your case is the white supremacist you employed.BTW, you won't find a single Philly cheese steak place in Philadelphia that has a mission, vision and values on their website. Why? It's only needed when employees go rogue because a business has not established who they are and what they stand for. This is Albuquerque. What do you stand for? Put it in writing, on your website. I wish you good luck.

Inviting the New Mexico Civil Guard to be in the restaurant and point weapons at protestors? Tisk tisk.

I've eaten at the restaurant once and to be honest it wasn't very good. However after learning about their manager and what he did I have to leave a terrible review. So even if the owners claim they were unaware of his activities involving the New Mexico N*** Guard he still has a criminal record and a simple Google would find out about his prior activities. So the excuse that they didn't know who he was or what he was or whatever is simply unbelievable. They knew who he was and who he is and they left him in a position of authority. Do people not do background checks for managers? I feel bad for the employees who had to work with this clown and that are soon to be out of work. But we don't need toxic businesses in this town. He seems to destroy everything he touches.

Why are the owners of this business not on the news denouncing the armed militia that they allowed to occupy their business? The news report had a general manager but we never heard from the owners, which tells me they're fine with the white supremacists' agenda.

Jim Benvie allowed dangerous, white supremacist terrorists to stage in the restaurant and threaten protesters. then the owners gave a half-baked attempt at a face-saving apology. nowhere in that apology was it mentioned that the owners were disaffiliating with Benvie, and until that happens, i must discourage people from patronizing this establishment. mediocre in the best of times; racist and dangerous in the worst.

Seems their food is garbage, but worse they knowingly provide support and shelter to local, violent white supremacist groups. Try another local sandwich shop. This one isn't worth your money.

Bad business to host vigilante militias who have shot a member of your community. Just plain d*** to think you can make a philly.

See the numerous other 1 star reviews... My story is pretty consistent with the others, but the tagline would probably go something like "boring food, bad service, preferential treatment for white supremacists."

Would you like a side of white supremacy with your crappy sandwich? Then Filling Philly's is for you! Their general manager is Jim Benvie, who has promoted himself to both the City Council and the media as just another downtown businessman when he bashed BLM demonstrators in June. Come to find out he's the same Jim Benvie who was convicted in March of impersonating a federal officer as he threatened and terrorized undocumented immigrants at the border as part of the United Constitutional Patriots Militia (see below). Now he seems to be playing a pivotal role in the New Mexico Civil Guard, the proto-fascist, heavily armed gang of thugs who has been showing up at protests and at the front doorstep of a Native American leader and professor, trying to instigate violence. Benvie used Filling Philly's as a staging ground for the NMCG two evenings this weekend, when peaceful, non-destructive protests were held by Red Nation and Black New Mexico Movement. The Vallejos, owners of Filling Philly's have responded with a tepid statement but so far have been unwilling to disavow Benvie. I'd say if you want to be on the right side of history and you believe fascism and white supremacy are wrong, get your cheese steaks somewhere else.

First time there, impressed! Very nice man that served us, really friendly. talkative, food definitely good, offered drink refill while waited for order, place was clean, he was wiping down outside. Definitely will go again! Ordered the cheddar burger with green chile, chile had little kick, fries good too had different taste, something I've not tasted before like little sweet kick to it. Burger cooked perfect not red not over cooked either. Totally enjoyable lunch !

So every time I move the first thing I find is a cheesesteak. This is the best place ever when you are going for taste. But the other day I was so exhausted and so hungry be an essential worker and I went in when they were trying to close which in my opinion is an immortal sin.But Jim is the most awesome person and made me food anyways: I was dying and he just hooked me up. It made me feel like I am super lucky to eat there. If you meet him you will know right away how lucky you are to meet him. Plus I am a junkie for this place. Plus their food is so god damn amazing you would be a fool to not eat here.

Ordered doordash Wednesday & my order was missing the chili cheese fries. The sandwich had chili on it which I did not order. I was charged 17.54 for a sandwich with no side. I called the restaurant and had to leave a message. They never call back. Never again. It's not that hard to read the order and pay attention to detail. Doordash gave me a credit. But, nothing from the restaurant.

Haven't tried this place yet but was immediately turned off at how much one sandwich, off of Doordash was. $30 dollars. Is this place really worth the money? If so I'll change my rating if not than I guess it stands.

BLACK LIVES MATTER

Being a philadelphia/tri-state native i decided to give this spot a try being that charleys is closed (and no, by no means is charleys a real philly steak but it comes close) but for the price i paid, and the skimpy, sloppy amount of ingredients in my sandwich, its safe to say this place was a big let down. not only was the owner non chalant and barely gave us a "hello/bye/thank you" he wasnt wearing masks or gloves and to top it off, when i asked for mayo they said they couldnt put condiments on my steak and that they had packets. NEVER have i ever been to any cheese steak spot where they serve their subs dry. this is new to me. the steak itself isnt chopped steak the way traditional philly steaks are prepared, it was more like peppered fajita steak. i got sauteed onions, they were super long, cold, and ultimately just got removed from the sandwich altogether. i had really high hopes for this place being i havent had a real philly steak in 2 years, and also working at a steak shop in delaware for years (cappriottis), but for 28 dollars for 2 skimpy, saugy, 6 inch steak sandwiches i much rather have bought steak um meat and my own rolls or went to subway. these ARE NOT PHILLY STEAKS. PLEASE DO BETTER.
