Japanese Kitchen Steakhouse, Teppanyaki & Sushi

7/26/25- Japanese kitchen has been one of my favorite sushi restaurants for a long time. The food is fresh and delicious. I have never had a bad meal here. The staff is friendly attentive, and professional. There is plenty of parking in the stack parking structure nearby. The restaurant is clean with a comfortable and inviting atmosphere. No complaints at this visit!

The roof started leaking due to a bad hail storm. The staff sprung to action and helped those who were experiencing discomfort.

This place has declined over the past couple years. Our most recent experience was horrendous. Went in with a group of six for a birthday dinner on Saturday, July 5th. We got there on time for a 5:30 PM reservation. We were seated shortly thereafter. We were seated on the ground level floor almost immediately after a larger group that was seated first. The server showed up within a few minutes and took our drink order. (So far, so good). While we waited for our drinks, she served the salad and miso soup. (Timely, so far) The server was friendly, attentive and efficient. She took our entree orders in a timely manner. Meanwhile three other tables were seated after us. That's where the problem started. All three of the tables that were seated after us got their cook before we did. Given the long delay, I asked to speak to a Manager. The young lady at the front desk pointed to one of the cooks and told me he was the manager. Obviously, I was not able to talk to him until after he finished with the table he was cooking for, which, by the way, was a group seated after we were seated. Bottom line, we waited over an hour before our cook made his way to our table. I spoke to the manager and he apologized for the delay and offered a discount to make things right. I won't comment on the food because I reneged on my order. The others in our group were not happy, but they went ahead and had their food prepared and served. As a family we have considered Japanese Kitchen a great place to celebrate birthdays for over 20 years. The experience on July 5th was so disconcerting, I think it's time to move on from Japanese Kitchen.

Overated

First time here which will probably be our last. The food was pretty good but the service was poor, No one seemed to know what was going on. No training has obviously been provided to the service staff. For a medium to upscale restaurant (prices reflect this) we expected much better service. Very disappointed date night.

Steaks were thinly sliced in small pieces, charged extra if you wanted fried rice, no noodles, they used bean sprout to substitute for noodles and diced up the shrimp, I only got 3 tiny pieces.😲 we had a hefty bill and the food wasn't worth it. Cook was upset that he did not get a hefty tip, no show n chopped up our food among 5 of us 😕 😡 NOT GOING BACK EVER!!
Don't go here if u are on a budget, not worth it...

Overall, it was a good experience—food was delicious and service was great. Unfortunately, dust from the ceiling fan above my wife’s food fell into her dish, which was disappointing. We still enjoyed the meal, but hope the fan is cleaned so future guests don’t have the same issue.

Overall good, Service top notch, but disappointed in them now charging an up charge for fried rice. Really? Food is good, but wasn't as seasoned as usual and asked for medium to medium well meat and was overcooked past well done, so had to ask cook to go ahead and place meat on our plate as it should be done.

We made a reservation for 16. Checked in and the host sat other parties and separated seating. The wait FOR RESERVATIONS extended beyond what we were willing to wait (a school night). We had to go elsewhere.

Had a great time even though I was by myself. Kylee was our server, and she was on top of everything and was super sweet the whole time! She was respectful, attentive, and always had a smile. Our chef was awesome! And had great attention to detail and was really fun. Recommending to my co-workers who we all are on a work trip! Reasonable pricing and good value!!! I'm definitely coming back!!!
