Decent BBQ, but expensive for what you get. I'm going to try them again, order something different. Otherwise, back to Whole Hog on montgomery.

The food was very tasty. Brisket was tender. Just wish it had been a little warmer. Fast service and friendly staff.

New local BBQ place, they do Oklahoma style BBQ so no rubs but BBQ sauce on the table with a house and a spicey option. You can smell the yummies from the moment you open the door. Had the baked potato with brisket on top and a side of pulled pork and regular mac and cheese, it was melt in my mouth yummy! Staff was very kind when asked about food allergies. The owner even came out to chat and was so kind and humble.

Good morning from a gorgeous Spring Day in central New Mexico. Tom Neiman and Jim Tritten visited a new restaurant on the east side of Albuquerque along with a few of the boys from the VA creative writing group. Join us as well regale you with tales of great food, fast service, and a relaxed atmosphere in J's Var-B-Q. Oklahoma barbeque in New Mexico. Meet Julian Vargas, the owner, explain what makes his food different and how he named his specials. Not only will we be back, but two of us have already been back. Good was good. Didn't really see anything different than other BBQs. They said it was Oklahoma BBQ but couldn't tell me what the difference was. Got sandwich topped with BBQ beans was ok only thing is when he was putting beans on he knocked off about half dozen. Kinda made me feel wasn't getting bang for my buck. 2 sauces on table whit and red containers but they're not labeled so don't know which is spicier. Plastic utensils are those real flimsy ones. If I'm having BBQ I want more sturdy. Service was great and people were more than accommodating. They do give military discount so I'll be sure and give them another try in the future. Everything was satisfactory and people were excellent.

Fiance ordered take out from here on Friday. They were out of most all the meats we ordered, so subbed some cheaper items they had in stock. They still charged us for the more expensive items, totaling to $14 overcharge. We then weighed the food ourselves when we got home because the portions looked small. They were all under. $52 for less than a pound of meat and two sides. Don't plan on coming back here ever again...

Ate here for the first time with the family. Me and my husband each got a bbq sandwich combos and my kids got the kids meal. We paid $45, a little pricey and not enough food but really delicious. Next time we come we’ll get more food just so we fill up ?Also, the service was good. Everyone was really friendly.

Visited this place because my friend Rocky recommended this place. Had the Brisket sandwich with baked beans. Lots of meat, great sauce. The beans were tasty. I also ordered a quarter sausage. The sausage was delicious. It would be better if they cut it at an angle.

This weeks date was J. I was not feeling well again due to my diseases so we had it delivered and we were not disappointed. J Vars BBQ was amazing. We had the brisket and the turkey. The sides were the okra, potatoe salad, and Mac and cheese. We got the cobbler for dessert. It was all seasoned well, the meats tender and had a delicious smoked flavor. The sides were amazing. The Mac and cheese was super creamy. The cobbler had just the right sweetness and the crust was crispy. The whole meal was amazing, next time we will visit in person.

Great food, and very pleasant staff. The seats were comfy. Some family-style large tables, and some smaller 4-tops. We've been back 3 times, and a goodeal each time with great value.
