They've been around for 90 years for a reason. Always great service and friendly staff. Basic hard shell tacos do it for me. Do yourself a favor and try them.

I got the tortilla burgers. Soft homemade tortillas, and great crispy fries

This has been a re-discovery. We knew the sold bulk items & take out, but had no idea that they had a sit down place. It’s like having breakfast at your abuelito’s. Fantastic food & service.

Ruth really ran an incredible service, made excellent recommendations, and got us so very full on amazing food in a short window before our train. She had spices in little bags and masa by the pound available, but the Huevos Rancheros stole the show!

I love La Mexicana but unfortunately this year I ordered 2 dozen tamales for $75, they didn't have any meat or chili in them. I literally took apart each tamale and all 24 were empty maybe a smidgen of pork and no chili.
Excellent food and service! The fruit empanadas were amazing. Best I’ve had!!!! Thank you
The combo plate was delicious and both the red and green chili was seasoned well with just the right amount of heat.
To top it off the staff was great and very friendly. The price is very reasonable especially for homemade food, unlike many other restaurants in Albuquerque we can't afford to visit anymore. Thank you La Mexicana for a great meal!

A wonderful experience. The service was extremely good. The staff (owner?) was super friendly and inclusive, also proudly telling us how they prepare the tortilla fresh and how the beef was not frozen. They are proud of their food.
As of the food, the price was more than fair, I also like the breaking bad reference on the menu and ended up getting the Heisenberger, with sopaipilla bun. It was a wonderful burger, juicy patty, rich chille and cheese flavor, and an egg with running yolk, it was satisfying. The fries were amazing, we absolutely didn’t expect such good fries in a random spot like this in Albuquerque. We also got plain sopaipilla, it was not bad but one level below Cocina Azul and El Patio.it was a bit oily, not as soft and fragrant.
Overall, an experience with no regrets, highly recommended.

Incredible breakfast. I never had a Breakfast Sopa, but the waitress explained it to me, and it was excellent. If it looks closed, try the door, they're probably open.

Stay in New Mexico for several days and this place is most impressive. Watch Ruth greets and takes everybody's order, plus cleaning up. She knows many customers by names. Chicharron sopa. Wonderful flavor. Nice and tender. Thanks for the recommendations!
