Genuine Japanese and great little shop! A business to be supported
We used to live in Torrance, California, where there are so many great authentic Japanese restaurants big and small.
So we know what authentic Japanese food tastes like.
Last night, for the first time, we took a chance and ate at Nagomi here in Albuquerque.
Wow!!
The food was absolutely great!
I had no idea that Albuquerque, out of all places, has such a great, authentic Japanese eatery, owned and operated by a Japanese family.
We had Chef's Bento Box which was...read full review

Nagomi Restaurant is considered the best and perhaps the only authentic Japanese restaurant in Albuquerque. The Tempura udon is superb, and the sushi and Japanese curry remain among the best in the area. The food is praised as delicious and more authentic than many other places. The menu offers many options, and even the Miso soup has received delightful comments. The hot pot is a fun meal to share, featuring a mix of protein and veggies, alongside a great selection of unique sake. The staff is friendly, and many customers have noted the nice atmosphere. It is also a spot that feels very much like being in Japan, with a little shop offering snacks, frozen fish, origami earrings, and tea.
Recent reviews highlight the restaurant's authentic feel and high-quality food, especially the bento boxes which are as good as those in Tokyo or Osaka. The sushi is fresh and delicious, and the prices are reasonable. Some diners mentioned that the restaurant can be warm inside, but a simple request for iced water or tea helps keep comfortable. Others noted that while the ramen options are tasty, they can sometimes be bland or missing the usual saltiness, and the eggs served with ramen are not marinated as expected. Despite these minor issues, many find the overall experience to be five stars.
Overall, Nagomi Restaurant offers a genuine Japanese dining experience with delicious food and a friendly atmosphere, making it a top choice for those seeking authentic Japanese cuisine in Albuquerque.
