⭐ 0/5 – Very Disappointing Experience
I recently visited this restaurant and had a very unpleasant experience. The food quality was not good at all — it lacked freshness and flavor, and definitely didn’t feel worth the price. On top of that, the staff’s behavior was quite rude and unprofessional. It was difficult to communicate because they did not seem to understand or speak English well, which made ordering and clearing up simple questions very frustrating.
Overall, the service felt disrespectful and the atmosphere was uncomfortable. I would not recommend this place and hope they improve their customer service and food quality in the future.

Where to start…
It was our first time visiting ABQ, and since it was Thanksgiving, almost everything was closed. I researched which places were open and made a few calls before choosing this restaurant because we love spicy food and the ratings seemed decent.
The moment we walked in, the place felt chaotic. A young waiter ran outside to chase a customer about their takeout order, and another customer was loudly called back after he had already walked out with his food. Not a great start.
We seated ourselves because no one greeted us. After ordering, I went to the restroom and the toilet seat was nearly falling off, and the soap was completely watered down.
Our drinks arrived, then the appetizers. I ordered steamed dumplings, but we were served fried ones. The young waiter apologized and said he’d fix it, but came back saying the boss lady refused to take them back, insisting fried dumplings were “very popular” and that we needed to keep them. We politely insisted on the steamed dumplings, and she was clearly unhappy and there was shouting coming from the kitchen.
Another group later ordered fried dumplings and were surprised at how quickly theirs came out. I couldn’t help but wonder if they were given the dumplings we had rejected (though I can only assume).
Then the boss lady delivered my entrée to the wrong table. When those customers said it wasn’t theirs, she yelled at the waiter asking who it was for, and he pointed to us.
When we finished and got the check, we noticed an overcharge for rice ($3.95) instead of the $2.50 listed on the menu. They also added an automatic 18% gratuity even though it was just the two of us, and the menu clearly states that gratuity only applies to groups of 6+. Our total was over $90. When we questioned it, the waiter said the boss lady added the gratuity because it was Thanksgiving.
We politely asked to remove the 18% and correct the rice. He returned with a new receipt that removed the gratuity but still didn’t fix the rice. Instead, they added a separate “custom order of $2.50” while keeping the $3.95 charge. I went to the front again to have it corrected, and the boss lady looked annoyed, mumbling about Thanksgiving as she rudely handed the receipt back.
We paid and left.
It’s disappointing to be charged an 18% gratuity simply because it was “Thanksgiving.” Not everyone celebrates it, and it felt unfair and unprofessional.

Their food is expensive and they don't even take Apple pay or Paypal for online orders, you have to enter a credit card online. And you have to set up an account with Neo Szechuan just to do an online order. Nope.
Delicious Sichuan food and friendly service! One of my favorite places to eat with my family.

Very unprofessional. I ordered special fried rice with specific instruction to add extra shrimp. The food came with 2 pieces of shrimp only despite being charged for extra. The quality of the food was not great. This place is overrated.

Oh my gosh real Chinese food not this Americanized stuff I was absolutely delighted. I lived in Hong Kong for 10 years so I'm very critical of Asian food

Another hit on my culinary tour of Albuquerque.
I ordered the Fish with Pickled Vegetables (C7), the Spicy Chili Shrimp & Pork Wontons, and an iced Thai tea.
The wontons came out first and were fantastic. The wrappers were silky smooth, the spice level was just right, and the fresh chives on top gave each bite a sharp little kick. Light, flavorful, and addictive.
The C7 fish was excellent. The broth had that sour-savory balance from the pickled vegetables, and the fish itself was tender and delicate. I really enjoyed the warmth of the ginger in the broth and the pop of freshness from the cilantro on top. It is not a fiery dish, but the layers of flavor made it deeply satisfying and comforting. A great contrast to the spice-forward wontons.
The iced Thai tea tied it all together. Sweet, creamy, and refreshing, it balanced the chili heat perfectly and kept the meal from ever feeling heavy.
Overall, this was an excellent experience, and I am already planning what to order next time.
