Going to the Flying Star off of Paseo Del Norte in NE Albuquerque is now hit or miss. Two nights ago we ordered the garden harvest and vegan tacos. We ate two bites each of a taco and were no longer interested in eating more of it. If you want a giant slab of cornmeal, a small handful of vegetables swimming in a sauce of goo and half a stick of melted butter, then this is the dish for you. If you want to go for something more healthy, go for the tortillas topped with spicy fake sausage meet, an almost non existent amount of greasy grilled vegetables, and crispy tortilla strips to hide the embarrassment of it all, then go with the vegan tacos. The pie and burgers are still good. The tart is hard as a rock and the fruit didn't taste like it was washed thoroughly. The carrot cake that used to be creamy now has a mealy texture, like they add too much flour. The London Fog tastes like Fruit Loops cereal but a pot of tea is still lovely. I spent $70 on 2 entrees, one appetizer, a London Fog, and 2 desserts. The front staff are friendly. The people who brought the food to the table did a double take of the food they brought then quickly left the table. When they were near me again, they heard me speak of my utter disappointment but acted as if they didn't. We just left after attempting to eat some of it vowing to only come back for tea and pie.

Absolutely scrumptious egg salad sandwiches and onion rings. Oh, and the Mexican chocolate lattes are delicious. Ordering took awhile, but we went during peak lunch hours. The decor was also very nice and the seats are comfy.

Cute place with yummy food and good service. Super casual atmosphere. It’s a good place for lunch. Excellent French fries and their cappuccino was really good. Both had salads and they were great.

I don't know where to begin but I am not going back to eat here again. It is officially on the 'over priced' list. And I've been going here for a couple decades, I don't mind spending more for quality, well prepared food but this was atrocious and I got sick! I ordered 2 things - the small chicken green chile soup. It smelled fishy, the potatoes were hard/not done, and the overwhelming 'flavor' was oregano. It was gross. I also ordered the 'Chinese Crunch' salad (13.95) that said "a beautiful mountain of Asian vegetables" - it was a joke! It was a few teenie, tiny pieces of chopped cucumber, a teenie tiny amount of shredded cabbage and carrots, and a small amount of lettuce (not any sort of spring mix!) also cut into tiny pieces that wouldn't stay on my fork, I couldn't even chew them. It felt like I was eating air. So unenjoyable. Pizza Hut has better salads,, and I really dislike Pizza Hut. My companion had the 'Classic Burger' (12.95) While it was not as offensive as my stuff it also was not very good. There was zero seasoning so it was super bland (I tried it). He ordered a vanilla milkshake (5.95) which is always a highlight at Flying Star and the reason we went, but it was so watery. It was kind of shocking. Not a bad flavor, but watery shakes are just not acceptable. The onion rings that came as a side with the burger were not bad. They also were not hot. But they were at least tasty. Still, I felt ill shortly after leaving and was sick with gastric issues for 3 days! I hadn't even finished any of my food because it wasn't good. My companion was I'll too but his only lasted 12-14 hours. Flying Star on Central/Nob Hill - Disappointing beyond measure, on every level.

Wonderfully fresh cakes and pies that you cannot pass up. VERY rich so you may not have room for any of their other fare. My personal favorite is their buddah bowl. YUM.

Flying Star Cafe is our go to breakfast place when we visit our son attending UNM. The food is always good, and they have a great selection. The place is clean and people are friendly.

Went to the Flying Star on Juan Tabo recently. I will never be back. I have been going to F.S. since it opened on Central, some 30 years ago. I always liked it for the great service and attitude, good food, and fantastic deserts and even the little space ships up in the clouds on their ceiling murals. It was unthinkable that I would write them a bad review. Since their bankrupty (two years ago?) several bad things have happened. Unfortunately the very cool downtown location closed. I have been going to the Juan Tabo location for the past two years. I love the spacious outdoor patio. There has been a steady decline in the food quality and the prices have been steadily rising. The counter people not only are not friendly but are surely and impatient. I even got sick after my last lunch there. This place desperately needs new management and employees.

The food was fantastic, not fantastic customer service and only average for kids. We went on a Friday night and it wasn’t super busy. No other families (and it was early evening) and the patronage didn’t seem super excited about our kids.

The fish sandwich and coleslaw were bland tasting. The fish sandwich was soaking with tartar sauce to the point the bread was soggy. Also missing buffalo cauliflower which was paid for.

A few blocks from the UNM campus, this branch of this local chain is a favorite of ours when we have visitors. The menu offers a varied year-round selection of entree salads, soups, sandwiches and entrees, plus seasonal selections and -- oh my! -- a case of tempting baked goodies. Patrons order and pay at the counter. Then the fresh-made food is brought to one's table. Portions are decidedly generous. For lunch yesterday, I had a chopped salad that included a half avacado, hard-boiled egg, smoked bacon, bleu cheese and lots of lovely greens. One of my companion tucked into the turkey stew topped with a large biscuit , making it rather like a pot pie. The other had a thick Reuben with fries. We could barely finished, but we managed.

I was pleasantly surprised. had the green chilli chowder, and then the meatloaf. both were very good. Micro brews were also good

We were disappointed by our breakfast experience here. One has to memorize the menu choice then repeat it to one of the two unfriendly attendants , neither of whom were attentive listeners. Our booth by the window seating was most uncomfortable. The vegan migas were mostly potatoes. Our Mexican coffee was great
