Hmm

I reluctantly decided to post a review. This used to be my family's favorite restaurant, as it reminded us of home. We used to love the food, the atmosphere, and the service. Not that we come here super often, but often enough. Well, we decided to dine in for lunch the week of Thanksgiving. They changed their menu and recipes... which I understand that some restaurants, at times, must consider doing. They no longer use fresh fruit, instead use canned fruit, and some of the dishes don't taste as good as they used to. They no longer offer soup/salad once you are seated. The changes and not for the better were disheartening. The balance of flavors were off. We ordered Honey Sesame Shrimp which is now an appetizer, and the shrimp was not perfectly crisp and large and tasty as the entree they once had. Gyoza and sushi seemed the same as before. The ginger over powered the Ramen we ordered. The Sticky Rice, my son's favorite dessert, no longer used fresh mango, and they put crunchy coconut flakes in the rice, which was not a good change (in my opinion). When the waitress brought some of the food out, I was surprised and said, "You don't use fresh fruit anymore?" Keep in mind, I don't penalize waiters for food/menu they are not responsible for, but she immediately got defensive and was very short with me. I later mentioned that the food wasn't as good as it used to be. She had walked away and said over her shoulder "sorry." She continued to be short with me, walking away in the middle of me speaking to her, I even asked if I said something that is causing her to be short with me, she said all I've done was complain. She had walked away and said over her shoulder "sorry." I later asked to speak with the manager, who wasn't there, and when I asked when he will be in so I could speak with him, the response was "I don't know," or "maybe he'll be in." At a certain point, she did disclose that a number of customers have complained about the food and she said something about the cost of food or cutting back (something like that) so they changed things. (Sorry, but that's where you don't forfeit quality and definitely not service.) When it was time to pay, she took my card, ran it, I asked for a pen so I could sign, and then walked away, I said, "don't you want me to pay?" She kept walking away and said no that's ok. (I was still charged btw, which I was glad to pay, but never signed.) I waited for awhile, and then we left. I asked again when the manager would be in, and got the same response. I didn't call to speak to the manager, it wasn't worth it for me, but it's disheartening to know their quality of food and service (from this waitress) has changed for the worse. We've always had wonderful service here, people who actually enjoyed serving here. I have never experienced this type of service before. Just wanted to share my experience.

Ordered take out from here for the first time since I was craving pineapple fried rice and found it pretty disappointing.
We called it in and I showed up 30 minutes later to get it, the whole order wasn’t ready yet so they brought out what was and then I proceeded to wait.
20 minutes later our sushi was ready.
By the time I got home <10 minutes later the food was cold; but who knows how long the warm food was already at that point.

The rice itself was underwhelming; minimal veggies and pineapple in it.

Needless to say this will be a first and last experience here.

Reliably good food and service. Great hot and sour soup, tempura, and sushi! The menu is vast though, so prepare to be tempted... a lot!

My family has been going here for many years, since it first opened actually. It use to be my favorite birthday dinner. We went tonight and the change in ownership is evident, but not in a good way.
They seemed low on staff and so even getting drinks ordered took a while.
The menu has been condensed (new menu design isn’t an improvement either, btw) and the sushi section seems to be reduced. They don’t have any futomaki or tamago nigiri. No tamago is crazy, imo. Also, we paid $7some for 2 pieces of unagi nigiri, and it was sliced so thin that it was falling apart. Maybe that’s a one-off, but as my family member said, “this might be about it for pacific paradise”. 😿

My fav has slipped from grace. Got it to go yesterday. No choice of soup or salad vs. veggies. No carrot or parsley garnish. Got the hot and sour soup anyway. Had a soapy taste and I threw it out. Prices went up, food quality/quantity down. I used to brag on them circa 2014.

The owner is busy making the love bite with the marriage massage lady rather running the restaurant. Would not come back.

I am so bummed. I have wanted to try this place for quite a while, and decided to go today on my 1st self care day in months. I arrived a little after noon and most of the dining area was blocked off. There were only a few tables in front of the bar. I think there were 5 tables of people total with 2 servers in the dining room. I stood waiting to be seated for almost 10 minutes, with no acknowledgement at all. The servers were in the dining room almost the whole time. My time was a bit limited so I asked if it would be ok to take a seat at the bar. I sat down and waited a few minutes for someone to come by and no one did, they must have walked past me 4-5 times. So I went ahead and got a menu (no biggie) and started deciding what I wanted. I was noticing that they were only bringing out drinks and hardly anyone in the dining area had food. I decided on the Mango chicken and waited another 5-10 minutes. By this time I had less than 30 minutes to eat and get a couple of blocks over to an appointment, so I decided to leave. The dining are was nice and clean. The sushi chef behind the bar was nice and spoke to me, but no acknowledgment from the servers.
I am hopeful to go back soon and try the food and amend my review. Unfortunately, this has the lowest review I have ever done. I typically only give positive reviews, if I have a bad experience I don’t often do a review. This was just so disappointing. Hopefully it will be a different experience soon.

Food was ok, prices have gone up, we have been going here for years. Our last experience, food is not as good as it used to be and charging higher prices. Waitress didn’t bother to come around and check on us of what we needed, she just stood at the monitor most of the time, we had to flag/call her three times for stuff.

Well I'm torn on this place. First few year or so prices fluctuates but food was good. This year prices went up quite a bit. Food, service, and atmosphere has always been good. Today we went and same prices but half the selection . Literally 6 pages gone from an 8 page menu. So if you're looking for their great selection of menu items you won't find it. Give it time. Maybe it will return. Not saying dont be a patron of the restaurant, just preparing you for what you will find.

Similar to another reviewer, just keep your expectations in check and this is a solid four! Have been here a few times and have enjoyed my choices, from the sushi to the different types of pan-Asian offerings- the crispy eggplant is particularly delicious!! Service sometimes is a little slow, but not a big deal, and they are friendly and the vibe of the restaurant is fun.
