If I could give it zero stars I would. The service was awful…we weren’t approached by a server for a looooong time. When we finally were, we went ahead and ordered right away so that we wouldn’t have to risk waiting again to give our order. The first thing I picked was told they were out of. The second thing I picked I was told they were out of. Drinks weren’t refilled until the meal was almost over. One of the people at my table ordered queso and it was like warm at best. The sopapillas were the most greasy I have ever had. I don’t typically leave reviews, but this was by far the worst restaurant experience I have had. This place used to be so good…what happened??? I won’t be returning.

Papa Felipe's is such a great restaurant and has been for as long as I can remember. The food is delicious, the atmosphere is pleasant and comfortable, and the service is great. This time I had the Chilaquiles casserole with an over medium egg and it was fantastic. The Christmas Chile cheese fries as an appetizer were excellent, the fries were crispy and the Chile flavorful with good heat. Everyone else's dishes looked incredible and there wasn't anything left at the end so I think everyone enjoyed their meals. If you're in the NE heights and need some excellent Mexican food, do yourself a favor and visit Papa Felipe's.

Waitress was not aware of her section, so had to wait for service. Asked to taste the whole beans to make sure they were fresh. She forgot but had ordered the beef and cheese enchiladas anyway. They came 19 minutes later, but the beef was straight out of the refridgerator with no cheese inside. Asked for a fresh HOT plate. They zapped it in the microwave. Beef came back rubbery and hard to chew. Companion had to leave because we had been there an hour waiting for our/my food. No apologies. Told waitress that the beef in his taco and my enchiladas came straight from the refridgerator, and still management took no action. The red chili was not only cold but no flavor or hotness. This was the worst meal I ever had from here. Don't plan to go back. They don't cook their corn tortillas now and I don't eat/digest rubbery beef

The restaurant was completely alone, and we needed to wait more than 30 minutes for a simple quesadillas. The rice and beans were the sides and not like too much the flavor, so my daughterdont eat it. The attention for the waitress was pretty good. She apologized for the inconvenience, but we never received a discount for that, and we need to stand up to look for her. I don't like it when you are in a New Mexican restaurant and put Mexican music when you dont sell any real Mexican food is illogical.

Very poor service. Waited an hr for the food with an empty restaurant and just left without getting the order.

Simply put nasty to start the chips where cheapo bagged the chili reneno were stuffed with velveta coated with some thin batter then deep fried the salsa was basically stewed tomatoes...the beans were like wall putty. Basically I had nothing in the meal that was prepared on site ...everything tasted wrong..

Absolutely HORRIBLE experience!! At one point this place used to be mine and my wife's FAVORITE place to eat, but now we will never eat there again. The food was COLD and the service was terrible. When I talked to the manager, she had NO interest in making a FREQUENT customer happy! She walked away from me when talking to her and only discounted my meal 1/2 off. So we ended up paying $30 for a COLD meal!! I'm so disappointed with how much this place has fallen.

What has happened to this place? This place has turned into a dump! Took my mother in for her birthday and it was the worst experience ever!!!
The manager said they were short on wait staff but never mentioned that they only had one cook in the kitchen! One freaking cook for the restaurant and it was busy, are you serious???
Our waitress seemed overwhelmed and was constantly missing in action. After waiting almost an hour she then tells us that there was only one cook and our order was next. Yet no order and tables who came in after us were served!!! This tells me that our order was never put in!!
After waiting over an hour and no waitress and no order we had enough!! I cashed out with a busser because again our waitress was MIA!!! I asked for the manager and he said she was busy!!! The busser was the best part of the experience, at least he knew what he was doing!!!
We warned people on the way out about the wait, didn’t want others suffering as we did!!!
This is sad because we used to like coming to this restaurant, but it has definitely gone down the toilet!!!
Save yourself the headache and go somewhere else until they get their act together!!!

After going to Papa's for 20 years it's time to hand it up..It was really good at one time, they after covid, it's never been the same. The food is always wrong, or they forget to give it to you, and we live in the East Mountains..it sucks when you don't get all your order, & sucks worse when you should have gone though it before leaving town..So my fault too..But no more faults..This last time, the last 3 times were wrong in a row..

Host wasn't very welcoming. He looked like he hated his job. The chips and salsa were not that great. The salsa tasted like it came from a jar. (Mild Pace Picante) I ordered the chicken Quesadilla as an appetizer, it was probably the only thing I enjoyed except it came with to salsa. My entree was the tamale dinner with red and green. Both chile sauces were very bland. No flavor, heat and the texture was as if they added some sort of thickening agent. I was disappointed. Only thing I really like about the place was the decor.

Ordered chimichanga - it was awful. It was tough, as if they reheated leftovers from night before and served that- the guacamole was nasty- had refrigerator stale taste. Red chili was so watered down it was a broth, not what you expected from a restaurant like this. Within an hour of eating about a third of food, I was sick to stomach and suffering digestive track explosions- never ever again will we ever eat there again. The restraunt of old is gone- now they serve last nights trash and charge full price. Have dr appt to see if I have food poisoning- patrons beware! If it looks old, it is. I trusted them- ?? and sour cream was runny- should have been the clue?
