Smallcakes A Cupcakery

I’ve been getting cupcakes here for the past few years. They are typically very good and worth the price. However, the past few times I’ve ordered through Grubhub, they were out of birthday cake cupcakes. Rather than ask me whether I wanted to substitute or cancel my order, they unilaterally substituted with flavors I do not like. I was very angry about this failure to communicate with me. Then, a couple of days ago, the same thing happened, where they were out of birthday cake. The Grubhub driver asked me if I wanted to cancel or sub. I was so put off again, I told him to just cancel the entire order. The driver lied to me and told me it was too late to cancel the order, when I texted him back right away. It was evident he was just hustling me for the tip, since I pre-tipped the driver. He told me that the six cupcakes would be taken off my bill. I waited two days, and they were never refunded! This is a very lazy, lame way of doing business. Get your act together, and make more birthday cake cupcakes on a daily basis or stop what you are doing!! I’m totally pissed off at this place! I finally had to file my own claim with the bank. Very inconsistent, bad customer service. Reading the reviews, I see this is a trend.

The cupcakes are always divine. It hurts the pocketbook to buy them at appx $5 a pop, but there are no gustatory regrets at all. 😅🤭

I stopped in as I was waiting for my togo order at a restaurant next door and was greeted by a warm and friendly young man!!! His customer service was top notch and truly one of a kind!! The cupcake selection was phenomenal with great variety! Something for everyone!! We usually visit Crumbl Cookie but moving forward we will make SmallCakes our family treat!! The flavor of the cupcakes and frosting were absolutely delicious and had us wanting more!!
Thank you SmallCakes for putting a huge smile on our families face and bringing happiness to our bellies!! 🫶🏽 We are HUGE fans of yours now!!

Second cake I ordered and i absolutely love it the design the taste of the cake. The whole experience met my expectations. I was very happy with the results.

Be careful with their charges for custom orders!

Both my partner and I get custom cakes from this locations and have done so for years. Usually we pay 50-60 bucks and the designs turn out fine. This time I was charged over 100 dollars for a 6” round cake (usually 40 dollars) and was told the customization was the reason i would be paying more than double. I figured that since this was a more complex cake it would be fair.

The day before pick up i got two missed calls from them along with a voice message that was silent. I tried to call back twice (an hour apart) and no one answered so i drove over there- if there was a problem with my cake I wanted to make sure it would be fine. The man working there was very nice and the call was just to question if the background was navy or black. i appreciated the thoroughness but didn’t like the fact that I had to drive over to clarify , but that wasn’t too bad.

When I got the cake today I was not happy. If you see on the photos the top of the cake isn’t even smooth, you can see the knife edges around the moon design and on the border. For reference, the first photo here is the reference cake I asked for, the second and third are the cake I got and the last photo is what I tried to fix. I told the lady who gave me the cake that it didn’t look as delicate or well done as the picture and she just said that ‘the decorator isn’t here anymore so….”. I had my event shortly after so I had no choice but to take it.

To clarify, if I had paid the usual 50-60 i would have been fine with this. But they charged me over 100 dollars for the complex design and gave me something genuinely MUCH simpler than the other cakes we had gotten before. When I got home I scraped off all the decor and used a ziplock bag quickly to try to redo the decorations to fix it. Obviously I had 30 minutes and no extra frosting but my attempt is what the last photo is.

The flavors are just like their cupcakes, so if you like them (i do) and you have a simple design for a custom cake then you should be fine, just don’t let them overcharge you !

Also- my partner had gotten a cake from them less than a month ago and paid 50 for it so we were aware of current prices and expectations which is important given tariffs.

Get there before 5pm if you want the best variety of flavors. Cake flavor of the day makes for even more happiness. Wish I lived locally, I'd go once a week.

They are the best in town I called in a cake no one else wanted to make last minute she had it done just like the pictures I sent very reasonable priced excellent service thank you do much you saved the day

I stopped in, for the first time, on 7 Oct 2025. I was, pleasantly, surprised. Cute place, awesome customer service, and yummy cupcakes. I purchased a variety of flavors, and they all were tasty per the person who ate each. I had a chocolate one and it was so good. I'll be back.

We stopped in after lunch near by and was not disappointed! I got the sample box with mini cupcakes (they where very good and my favs are what im assuming is an almond cake, the lemon drop and the coconut) my husband got the red velvet as it’s his favorite and also loved it! The man working was so kind, helpful and we overall really enjoyed the experience
