I went in today and had a delicious chai tea. The service was fast and the ladies behind the counter were friendly. I'll be back.

All ice, no cream

They aren’t the place to go too. Candy store next door is better. Some girl named Justina working there was absolutely disrespectful to me. Terrible service will never return there again ruined my date at Oldtown! Wow, I am sick.

I’m very confused to the recent negative reviews this shop has received. My family has been coming to this shop for awhile now and we go every chance we get. The staff is always professional, positive, and prompt. My daughter more specifically adores Rachel. She continuously goes above and beyond to make my children feel special. I highly recommend this shop as they serve various types of ice creams, drink flavors, and other specialty items.

The young man working here obviously takes pride in his work! I watched him make a banana split for someone ahead of me and it was a work of art! (See picture included with my review.) I love that they will make a milkshake using ANY FLAVOR of ice cream! (I chose Rocky Road.) My husband got a single scoop hot fudge sundae. Then we sat at a little covered table on the sidewalk out front.

Wonderful establishment. The actual store is a bit cramped and has an awkward layout, but the products and the service are top-notch. They have Blue Bell ice cream, which is personally one of my favorites, and their prices are just a bit lower than their competition a couple doors down. The workers are extremely friendly and helpful, and accommodating when I ask for something a little off the beaten path. There's lots of outdoor seating so that you don't have to eat your ice cream in the cramped, noisy building.

There's a few things I could nitpick here — the air conditioning isn't very good, which leaves the inside of the store hot and humid; the game machine they have in the corner seems to be perpetually broken; the malting powder often doesn't seem to get evenly mixed in the malts, leaving them a little chunky; and the hot chocolate frequently tastes of coffee. However, none of these things are a big deal overall, not enough for me to take any serious issue with, just a few things that could be improved on.

A note on a recent review where the customer said one of the workers cussed at her friend — I witnessed that personally, and he obstructed her and nearly caused her to fall over with a heavy object and hurt herself. Any reasonable person would have been angry. That same worker has been enthusiastically polite and friendly every other time I've seen her.

Dietary restrictions: There appear to be a few non-dairy options with the frozen treats, and they have non-dairy milk available for drinks made with milk — but the options here are limited. Still, there are options, which is better than some places.

Parking: Most days of the week it's almost impossible to find parking in or near Old town, apart from the paid lots on the North and South sides, both of which are a few blocks away from the Ice Cream Parlor. There is free street parking in front of the establishment, but it's prime real estate that gets taken quickly, especially on weekends. Plan to do some walking.

Kid-friendliness: I mean, it's an ice cream shop. While not tailored specifically to children, I don't know too many kids who complain about getting ice cream.

Wheelchair accessibility: There are no stairs at either entrance. The store is rather narrow, but I have seen wheelchairs come in and out before without a problem. However, sitting outside would probably be the best bet for someone in a wheelchair, given how cramped the indoor seating is. The outdoor seating has plenty of room, and the chairs can be moved out of the way if necessary.
