Great prices friendly service, great food, very fast. Easy to see why "Taco Sal's" is still a local favorite. Me and my family have been eating there since the nineties now we spoke to a gentleman there who'd been a regular customer since since they opened in the 60s. I had the shredded beef taco plate. I highly recommend it.

One of the first things you see when you walk in are the beautiful vines growing along the ceiling, but if that's not your thing, there is another room you can sit in that is spacious and welcoming. The menu has plenty to choose from including burgers and everything comes out fresh and delicious. These are some of the best chicken tacos I have ever had. The chicken is super tender, juicy and lightly seasoned. The plating isn't anything fancy, but the flavor and quality will keep you coming back.

Steak tacos and fajitas were tough. Only come here if you have plenty of time. We were one of two tables, and we waited 38 minutes to get our mediocre food.

Taco Sal has been a staple in Albuquerque. It has changed owners since the early 90’s but the quality is still superb. If you go, ask for the side of Chicarrones trust me, they are the best.

Great inexpensive Mexican food. It's the real deal. Taco Tuesday is unbelievably cheap and good. 4.88 for two tacos and a sopapilla. Movies were shot here. Plus there is a cool comic book store next door and a weird thrift store. And a Korean school! I think it's the most diverse bunch of businesses in town. Oh and an electronics shop.

This restaurant has been in ABQ for longer than most of us, so they're doing something right. From my visit, I think those things are their base foods - we tried chicken enchiladas, chile relleno, tamales, and ground beef tacos - all wonderful. 10/10, no notes. It's back-to-basics home style New Mexican (except I'm willing to bet they didn't go back - they've never left), and with many of our classic NM restaurants becoming too commercialized and loosing the authenticity in their recipes (looking at you, El Pinto), this is refreshing. Unfortunately, I felt like the sauce (both green and red, because obviously) tasted like it was... canned? and weirdly condensed? It had a nice kick, but a strange flavor I couldn't place. Perhaps it was the same strange flavor lent to their ice from clearly not cleaning the ice machine properly...*sad face* The Service is incredibly friendly, but...odd, in a way that only an old school restaurant can be. When we came into the restaurant, we were greeted and told to sit wherever we like, but 60% of the available tables had just been left with dishes stacked from whoever ate there whenever that was. You could tell getting to the bussing of tables was not a high priority, nor was checking on tables, seeing if anyone needed anything, or checking anyone out. It was definitely a, we seat you, take your order, bring it to you & you're in charge of managing yourself from there out. Most of the tables' condiments/salt & pepper/ and or sugar packets was random and clearly not being restocked. In some cases, just strewn about on the table. Not necessarily a terrible thing, but definitely a kind of style you only find in old school places and that gives a strange overall atmosphere. The décor has maybe been stapled to the wall since they opened the place, it doesn't feel dirty necessarily, but it doesn't feel clean. Its the kind of situation that makes you question the cleanliness just enough to not feel fully comfortable. Overall, I was unfortunately left not knowing how I felt about it. I don't think I'd go back, but I don't think I'd object if someone wanted to eat here...and I think they might like it that way.

I was in a party of four at 11 am on a Saturday. We arrived right at 11 am when they were scheduled to open. They opened a few minutes late, but it was not a concern since the food and service were excellent. Me and another member of our party and I ordered the carne adovada breakfast with over-easy eggs. The red chile with carne adovada flavors was the best I have tasted in Albuquerque. I was pleasantly surprised to see refried beans on the plate instead of whole beans that I usually see in Albuquerque. The portion sizes were great, too, because I had enough to take home for another meal. The sopapillas were excellent as well. I highly recommend this restaurant and plan to visit again to try more entrees on the menu.

I enjoy all the dishes. Knowing how to make Spanish food, they put too much flour in the red chili to thicken it sometimes. This is not a fancy place, but a small business with reasonable prices.
