The Chancla Reviews
We got the Chicken Fried Steak and Tres Leches French Toast as carryout and both were delicious! The Chicken Fried Steak was homemade with a great not too thick and not too thin crunchy crust with bacon and came with perfectly cooked roasted and spicy calabasitas. The Tres Leches French Toast was also homemade with 2 huge thick slices, a great tres leches sauce, strawberries, bananas, blueberries and a delicious cinnamon whipped cream. For carryout we were very impressed and imagine...read full review
A small place with big flavors! I showed up for the gluten free chicken fried steak and I wasn’t disappointed! My friends all enjoyed their food but they did say the chile was on the hot side. ❤️

The Chancla is a cozy, down to earth, and casual restaurant with a no frills environment. The space is small and can feel crowded and noisy, but it also offers patio and outdoor seating. The staff is friendly and attentive.
The food is beautiful, absolutely delicious, and tastes as good as it looks. Many find the price point amazing and good considering the quality, though some note it can be a little pricey. Portions are pretty big; a meal could easily be split. Specific standout dishes include the must-try chancla plate, the turkey sandwich on fresh green chile focaccia, and the Elote and 505 Eggs Benedict for breakfast. The kale salad is also highly recommended. Their chile is hot, authentic, and delicious for those used to local heat. They offer lots of gluten free options.
The cinnamon rolls are a highlight—fluffy, delicious, and served warm with cream cheese frosting and choices like apple crumble, peach, or strawberry topping. They pair perfectly with coffee. The hazelnut vanilla latte is rich and delicious without being overly sweet.
Overall, experiences are great and many customers plan to return. It is considered a must-try in Albuquerque, worth a drive, but arriving early is advised to get a seat.
